i own a platnium pro-use II 0.3 and i like it a lot. nice comfortable diameter, but the tip is rather sensitive and may bend when dropped. i bent mine slightly once, but was able to fix it with some pliers. a little on the pricey side, but the quality is great.

$22 is a lot

for a bit more, you could spring for a Rotring 600 with the retractable tip

I picked up the Pentel PG5, Graph1000, Graph600 and Graphgear1000.

also a Pilot S20 and a Rotring Core 0.7 pencil

would probably like more fountain pens or drafting pens

anything interesting to distract me essentially

kaweco sport rollerball:

jetpens doesn't have the rollerball, just the fountain pens:

overall, they're good pens imo. the nibs might be a little bolder than what many might like. they're kind of a medium-bold or .7-1.0mm

you could also try this pen mod, but i don't recommend it, because it'll start to bleed out on you and it'll get pretty messy:

i take that back. both are about the same with a fine-medium nib. i haven't modded the fountain pen. it may have been the ink i used that caused it to bleed, but there would be minimal bleeding if you decide to use the ink cartridges.

the pilot petit1 is also nice compact fountain pen if you prefer the finer nib. the clip is rather useless, because it isn't very secure and may get caught on something and fall out or just fall out as you move. with something that small, i'd prefer to carry it deep in my pockets anyway.

i've already lost three of these because of that stupid clip :\

not enough wooden pencil representation in this thread...

general pencil co's 550 'supreme' pencil is my favorite..

really cheap paint, but it writes and sharpens easily and great for the price... (like 25 cents a pencil?)

anyway, it shits on most of the pencils at the office supply store

wooden pencil means i'm going to get tidbits and shavings all over my paper, hands, desk, chair, carpet...

where can I get a nice ruler from? something aluminum perhaps? professional drafting/architectural ?

check out 'alumicolor' straight edges at any art store or drafting warehouse. simple aluminum with a non stick foam back. they come in all sorts of sizes too.
