Yeah, I need to get out and get some resumes in at...anywhere. I've had a little interest from a few places i've applied but nothing concrete thus far. my co-worker (who helps me not go batshit insane) got a cushy government internship and is leaving in the middle of june, so I've made a promise to myself to be out of here by then, even if i take a big fat pay cut.

word. good luck to you man. i feel like im going to find myself in a similar situation a few years down the road <img src="images/smilies/frown.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Frown" smilieid="11" class="inlineimg" />

I hope not dude. If there's one piece of advice i currently feel qualified to give, it's that you should do some shit you love and bust your ass at making the money follow. don't do something you despise because it pays well and spend your nights trying to do something you enjoy to keep sane.

poison oak. at first I thought maybe it was eczema, then I thought maybe a severe allergy to tall grass, then I realized today (after my rash turned into more grossness and made my ankle swell up) that it's poison oak rash... and I get to deal with it for 3 more weeks. :(

coffee shop workers... or at least at the cafes i've been to lately. they're so fucking bitter, just because you're working a $9/hr job doesn't mean you have to be a cunt.

i hate people who are unnecessarily rude.

having worked at a coffee shop I often wondered the exact opposite. Just because I worked for $9/hr doesn't mean customers have to act like cunts.

I still know what you mean though, that bullshit attitude, the biggest chip on their shoulder as though the world has done them a huge grievance because they chose to work at a coffee shop.

working at a coffee shop has made me appreciate the food/service industry a lot more though.

if youre a regular or something you could leave a few bucks in the tip jar every now and then. I usually tip when I am out of town / it's busy / I caused a delay somehow / they did me a favor / I'm in a good mood / someone was a bitch in front of me.

I worked at starbucks and let's be honest, obviously I enjoyed getting tips. At times it would equate to an extra dollar an hour. Even though it isn't much, I am relatively broke and in school. However, if I started the job and there never was a culture/discourse/awareness of tipping, I wouldn't have cared.

I enjoyed the interaction with (albeit very few) people who weren't cunts and never thought less of people who didn't tip regularly. Some regular's would on occasion leave a large sum around Christmas time, or bring us baking (ironic since we sell baking).

Clopek I don't think you're a dick.

I find it interesting how tipping is acceptable/expected in some industries but not others. If you go shopping and someone gives you exceptional customer service, do you tip them? It is kind of the same logic as why we supposedly tip at restaurants/cafe's.

People get caught up in extreme coffee tipping and make it absolute. You don't need to leave a dollar or not leave a dollar. Fuck, two quarters in the jar or on the tip line adds up enough. It's easy to do and it's for someone getting your shit.

My contribution to things I hate...I'm on my "manses" right now and crabby as shit. It's a real thing. It's even on the same clock as my wife.

Macbook cut out twice in the past week when unplugged and with battery at around 60%. Battery condition is good though, so it wasn't like it should have died. Reset the SMC, hoping it fixes the problem. Temperature also seems to hover around 55-60C these days is normal use - swear it used to be cooler. FFFFUUU, hate technological problems.
