i didn't know poles were brown

immigration was most likely the deciding factor, i won't deny that. i just don't necessarily think that wanting to prioritize your own country's interest above others is racist in all cases. the nation-state is not a race, and there are very valid reason for not wanting open door policies that drive down wages, consume welfare resources, and often times fail to fully integrate into society.

I'm sorry, but I can tell you now for a fact it was all about immigration, and closing the borders to foreigners, i.e. anyone who isn't white and not born in England. It was about kicking out "Johnny foreigner" and keeping "English jobs for English people". The whole breaking from Brussels so we could govern ourselves was a smokescreen, or should we say a convenient lie to put in front of people.

Why do you think Farage released a huge Leave poster campaign two days before the referendum which had a photo of refugees and the words "Breaking point" if it wasn't about immigration? Why was immigration such a hot topic for the months leading up to it. Why did the Leave campaign keep banging on about how the NHS and other services are under strain due to the free movement of workers. Pointing out that terrorists could enter freely through our borders, and because of this we shouldn't be accepting refugees.

Perhaps in the US you received the "filtered" version of the campaign's media coverage.

Also unfortunately, the majority of the British voting population that did push it through were uneducated. The Financial Times released trend graphs of those who voted leave and remain, the sad fact is those who had a degree or a higher qualification heavily leaned towards Remain, while those who didn't have a degree heavily leaned towards Leave.

I agree with you in places but think there's bad analysis and a snobbishness in other places. They weren't "uneducated". They were not educated to degree level ffs.

"But some 51 percent of the total and 47 percent of Remain supporters said immigration had no impact on them personally. Those saying immigration had no impact on them personally was even higher among Leave supporters, at 52 percent."

How do you account for this then? You forget the immense power of nationalism.

The swell of racist people with no solidarity and no intelligence that couldn't give a fuck about the refugees is why these things need to be analyzed and fought right now, not just moaned about on the internet.

i mean, it's not like the US is any better. older generations here are voting against progressive and reasonable reform in the face of racism, immigration and the gays, and much like the UK's rural v. urban issues, we're seeing a massive polarization of urban and rural values/politics here. The haves and the have nots are clashing, but in a diametrically opposed way.   Brexit is seriously worrisome, and that increases the possibility of a trumpocalypse happening this November.*

You realize that this is the same man whose been through multiple bankruptcies...

I don't think history has ever had a politician who was first a businessman. Usually it's the politicians contriving with businessmen; but it's always been separate like church and state.

I can't say anything really because I believe in hearing what one says before passing judgement but every time I hear him speak or attempt to, after five minutes I'm ready to gag myself.

What I do hear, the snippets I obviously can't ignore: paints him as someone who goes too far in promising what we all know ain't gonna be delivered. He's extreme like this I suppose.

My fear is how much further we are going to drop in the eyes of the world if he's actually elected. Not for a vanity so much as vote of confidence in America/n(s)

im not actually mad - just messing around with em. if somebody asks you 40% of asking price, keep in mind i turned off "or best offer" function, wouldn't you get a little frustrated? This is a regular occurrence, if people are going to give dipshit offers im going to give a dipshit response.
