After four months of working on putting this thing together and getting countless

requests for photos, here it is..

The story goes..

I'm getting married this weekend, for my wedding i'm wearing a custom made

denim suit made from Flat Head's 3XXX denim.

The denim was brought back to San Francisco four months ago from Japan and was given

to a local tailor known for making suits to turn the denim into a 40's style

suit but slightly slimmed down.

The specs:

-Flat Head 3XXX Raw Selvedge Denim Two Piece Suit (French Seams + Silk Japanese Lining + Arcuate Shaped Pocket Flaps)

-Custom Tailored Japanese Cotton Button Down Shirt

-Al's Italian Silk Tie

-Christian Dior Gold Vintage Cuff Links (1974)

-Flat Head Argyle Socks

-Flat Head Cordovan Clipper Shoes

We do sell those Flat Head shoes at Self Edge.. they run true to size and take 3 days to get. But the price might be a turn off for most people.

$1150 a pair.

Kiya,

The suit is truly fabulous. I must say that I’ve really been dreaming of doing exactly such a suit for a VERY long time. High end tailoring is easy out here in Asia. Getting the hands on high-end denim, on the other hand, is really, really hard.

I would like to ask about steps taken with the denim. May we assume that you did a serious soaking (and re-pressing) of the denim prior to handing over to the tailor? If you did not, could it ever even be dry-cleaned?

What kind of conversation(s) did you have with your tailor regarding the special concerns of getting a heavy denim to hang like a fine wool? (This is no small feat, either. We should all recognize that your tailor is more than just talented, but is truly gifted!)

Any other descriptive details you would be willing to share regarding the construction process would be very gratefully received.

Like everyone, I think the shoes are especially perfect for the occasion.

I would also echo Beatle’s request for details about what the bride will wear? (It doesn’t have to be denim, of course, but we are curious!)

And, finally, I echo everyone’s heartfelt congratulations to you both!

LL
