Going to be living in Sangenjaya for a few months starting in January, anyone have any recommendations for restaurants or bars in the area? I could tabelog it but curious if anyone had any recommendations.

it depends on what yr looking for, but a few of the best spots in Tokyo I think are eleven, and UNIT are pretty good. warehouse 703 over in Azabu-Juban brings in good talent on occassion too (saw Ben Klock there) but I'm all about the music and couldn't give a fuck about no J-bitches so that's just my opinion.

but if you aren't too fussy about music as you say and don't mind lots of corny bitches you will have tonnnnns of clubs to go to.

my best friend in japan is vegan, so i went to quite a few restaurants with him (although the concept of veganism is rarely understood in japan) - if you want, i can ask him for the names. lonely planet tokyo also has a few of the more popular ones listed, too.

i have been looking myself but got hit with a nasty cold and cant move so well. i think i can remember seeing a few second hand stores in Asakusa last time was here.

im here for one month but would like to get it in next couple of days cold permitting. my japanese is not great its pretty limited to food and drink/ ordering in izakaya

you can try digging through http://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/ . friend made some good deals there.

otherwise look for a sofmap store (pretty sure there is one in akihabara). they have all kinds of used gear, but not crazy cheap
