they got rid of some of the dumb detailing, black line on the midsole, 2 pointless eyelets on the inside, etc. the silhouette is nice, but regular cons are just gross because they're so overdesigned. i'd go for it.

i'd always admired the minimalism of those play chucks, so i decided to design my own low model on the converse website last december. if you make the racing stripes and lining white, and the eyelets and stitching black, they look pretty damn clean--getting rid of those useless details makes all the difference, plus it's only like 80 bucks (saving you anywhere from $20-40). mine are wearing in pretty nicely.
