So I've been seriously lacking on my reading game recently, besides the required reading for educational purposes, and magazines/internet crap.

I'm putting it out there for all of you to point me in the direction of some good reads. Something inspirational perhaps.

Anything goes!

The Men who stares at goats, by Jon Ronson

"..As Ronson reveals, a secret wing of the U.S. military called First Earth Battalion was created in 1979 with the purpose of creating "Warrior Monks," soldiers capable of walking through walls, becoming invisible, reading minds and even killing a goat simply by staring at it. Some of the characters involved seem well-meaning enough, such as the hapless General Stubblebine, who is "confounded by his continual failure to walk through his wall."

the sad thing is that its a true story :)

...If it wasnt for bad luck I wouldn´t have any luck at all..

The "Eternal Champion" books by Micheal Moorcock

Elric-Ani-front.gif

I recomend starting out by reading - Elric of Melnibone

then read the next five Elric books - Sailor On The Seas Of Fate, The Weird Of The White Wolf, The Vanishing Tower, Bane Of The Black Sword, and Stormbringer...

... by the time you have finished those six you will be addicted and should read next the Chronicles of Corum (six books) and then the Hawkmoon books (7)

you will be glad you did.

Yeah The Story of B is a great read. Esp. if your Catholic or have religious tendencies. But not because it inspires you morally, more like it flips your religion upside down and sodomizes it.

Hah! Sorry if that comes off as too harsh. It really is a great book.

i concur, cs lewis is a must read. the abolition of man is a great book, short and straight to the point.

while we're on the same subject:

thus spake zarathustra - neitzsche (only for the mentally stable)

philosophy of right - hegel

atlast shrugged - ayn rand

a people's history of the united states - howard zinn

manufacturing consent - howard zinn

hollywood vs. america - michael medved

the ecology of commerce - paul hawken

the road to serfdom - f.a. hayek

red star over china - edgar snow

the russian revolution - leon trotsky

from beirut to jerusalem - thomas friedman

hirohito and the making of modern japan - herbert bix

the kings depart - henry kissinger

a world restored - henry kissinger

this a a guide to understanding the modern world. read these and you'll have more political knowledge than 99% of the population. i could go on, this is a good start if you have time and brain cells to burn. icon_smile_big.gif
