i am really confused about these things. i want to be able to plug my stuff in while in argentina and from what it seems its like the converter would fry most things. i just bought this, http://www.sharperimage.com/us/en/catalog/productdetails/sku__FZ508 yesterday, and would like to know if anyone has experience with converters. also is it possible to connect like a surge protector on this to plug many things at once.

You'll be fine. It depends on what you're plugging in, most of the newer electronics run on different currents and can dectect them. Let's say an ipod or a digital camera charger just need a small plug converter but a hair dryer from the 90's or an electric blanket that's older than you might need a current converter. On each plug (device) you can read if it's dual current or not. You can plug in a power strip into the converter and plug many devices but generally it's not recomended.
