haha! This is like on of those 'thru the keyhole' questions! They're a 1930s repro. I would think, but I can't see a selvage line, which would be blue on the 201, and doesn't normally fade. HEnce i would guess it's more likely to be a 501 with faded red line... but I didn't look too hard cos it made my eyes hurt... if you can see rivets on the back pockets then the jeans are a circa 1933 reissue, otherwise they're a 1937 reissue.

they are 1930s repros from an earlier l.v.c. collection. they are u.s. cone denim and made in san fransisco before they closed that sewing plant. the numbers on the back of the shan tackss on the top button are codes for sewing facilities so that the place of manufacture can be idenitified by levis quality control. current l.v.c. comes (554, r etc.) come from kentucky, los angeles and another plant in s.f. not operated by levis. also, the buckle on these is an older repro model, the current line has a more authentic version ofthe origianl 2 prong buckle. this buckle is used to prevent law suits. they go on ebay for 80.00 to 150.00 usually.

I guess you don't mean lawsuits in case of distress if your pants fall down?

the authentic buckles have 2 prongs that puncture the denim on the other side of the buckle, and is very funcional. most companies wont run these becuse they run a risk of someone cutting thier hands or ripping furniture with them. even lvc runs these fake buckles.
