LVC Catalogs

Recommended Posts

Dont know if any of you Lvc fans have seen these collectors cards before? They are postcard-size.

001.jpg

There are 15 altogether, held in place by a card belt/cinchstrap.

002.jpg

They are a mixture of early Lvc models and original garments. On the front there is a photo, and on the reverse there is information about the garment in question. Obviously, not all of them are necessarily historically correct (just like some of the early repros) and there is some misinformation. But I like them anyway, and I hope you guys will find them interesting.

LVC Catalogues - First up, the 201 No 2 Denim. I bought these in Japan, from memory, and gave them to a friend - Andy from RHD.

Thisi is a useful catalogue, in that it depicts the full range including LVC America/EUrope items, and LVC Japan.

Many of the main items are identical to the EUropean market ones - these are made in the US, usually Valencia Street. Other items, probably the 551ZX, are made in America but only sold by LVC Japan - as might happen in Europe, say, where they will have items in their range that aren't retailed in America.

Other items still are all-Japanese, made and sold in Japan. Over this period, 2001 or so, many/most of them would use Cone for the STF fabric, and usually Kaihara for the Sanforized. One example of this would be the 502, which was a part of the LEvi's Japan, and then LVC Japan, range from the very beginning.

Ive posted these at maximum size, although I think SuFU's sofrtware is reducing them somewhat. They shoudl be 700 pixels wide.

Thanks for posting, roy.

I think LVC Japan were going thru a bad patch in 2005. Some spectacularly 'orrible pics and jeans there.

They were sort of always going through a bad patch when you look at the jeans and denim jacket washes, they were much more extreme, I guess to appeal to the Japanese market. They were right on the money with their non-distressed jackets, shirts and sweats, though. I have that brown Levi's casuals shirt that's next to the '50s casuals zip-through, and it's pretty sweet. Really heavy Rayon, feels more like a jacket.

When I have time I'll post all of that 2003 collection. Lots of good items in there.

By the time of the 2005 collection, there's a marked deterioration in quality; washes in general were not very good, and the theme was confused - wartime AND mod, which don't necessarily go together well.

IN sprig-summer 2004 we get a flimsy brochure. Design is by The Kitchen, text is around 6 point, white out, so it breaks up and is impossible to even read. You can sense LVC was about to die thru lack of TLC.

Here's Shorty Long's smaller hang-tag booklet - a couple of items are clearer on this shot.

Some more info on the LVC Chinos. They're from the s/s 2004 collection:

I still have 2003, the whole catalog, and 2009, I'll post when I can.
