IMO in Los Angeles sportie La was the first real jump-off back in 94ish... before that there was a shoe warehouse down Melrose close to the 101 & some other secret spots.

Back east it was always Modells (in DC) or The Athletic House...

I remember when The Athletes Foot opened in 1980ish.

There have always been spots. That's back when you had to really be in the game though. Hot shit didn't just bite any Herb in the ass as they walked down the street.

back before boutiques and the internet:

couple mom and pop shops by my parents house in the OC

foot locker

just for feet when it was in vegas

first step in san francisco

too bad they all either turned to crap or don't exist anymore.

man i used to search high and low for kicks.

now its all determined on how much money you're willing to spend.

Quote: notice that every simgle shoe in foot locker is all white now?

I noticed that the other day... they're all either solid white, black or navy blue, and grouped accordingly.

so true... no "shopping mall" shoe stores carry anything worth getting now a days
