I have a friend who gets his haircut from his mom and it looks terrible. His hairline is somewhat far back, so he insists on covering it up with bangs and medium length hair. anyone have suggestions for an asian guy with slightly receding hairline?

^ I'd say buzzcut or shave. Once your hairline starts going back or you start balding, there's no point in fighting. But if his hairline is far back just from being cut too far back countless times, tell him to just let his hair grow in for a good while, so at least baby hairs will come in to fill in.

at first i wanted to just shave my sideburns off , decide to play abit with my hair since im going army next year .

kudos to my stylist . did this hairstyle without any picture , it was "trial and error" .
