Roberto Cavalli at H&M

With this year’s designer collaboration H&M opens its doors to the exclusive

world of Roberto Cavalli. The Italian designer will create a one-off collection

for women and men exclusively for H&M. The line will carry the vital touch and

the intense sensuality typical of Roberto Cavalli, one of the world’s most

exciting and creative fashion designers.

“Roberto Cavalli has created a world of his own, iconic and full of fantasy,

when it comes to colours, prints, and style. There is no place for shyness and

no possibility of ending up with a mainstream wardrobe of everyday basics.

The Roberto Cavalli collections represents an exuberant, successful lifestyleâ€,

says Margareta van den Bosch.

“As the first Italian designer in the history of H&M, I enthusiastically

welcomed this invitation, proud to bring the lively and positive spirit of my

work to a new audience, who will be able to see and interpret my style in an

individual way. I love freedom and challenges: breaking down barriers,

experimenting in different directions. H&M is all this for me. I will add a dash

of festivity and dreamsâ€, explains Roberto Cavalli.

The “Roberto Cavalli at H&M†collection will be available in approximately 200

selected H&M stores worldwide for a limited period of time starting from

November 8th 2007.

The line will consist of iconic menswear, 20 pieces, and womenswear, 25 pieces,

including lingerie plus matching accessories.

Thanks to his boundless creativity, Roberto Cavalli is known as a designer to

the stars and the international jet set. He regularly dresses international

personalities: Madonna, Beyoncé, Gwyneth Paltrow, Charlize Theron, Jennifer

Lopez, Sharon Stone, Gong Li, Victoria Beckham, Lenny Kravitz and Adrien Brody.

Mr Cavalli’s vision is synonymous with glamour and a sensual, revolutionary

style. Florentine craftsmanship and tradition combine with a love of colour,

embellishment and prints inspired by nature translates into a unique, inimitable

style.

Today the Roberto Cavalli universe includes signature collections for both men

and women. There is Just Cavalli for a young audience, and Class Cavalli a

diffusion collection as well as the Angels and Devils collection for boys and

girls.

In addition there is also beachwear, lingerie, shoes, eyewear, watches and

perfumes. Other products from the world of Roberto Cavalli are accessories for

the home, wine and vodka.

i think dolce's denim/shitty tees gives them a terrible rap. some of the cuts on their suits can be pretty spot on (similar to dior even) and they put out some fantastic tuxedos.

that being said, cavalli for h&m can go either way, just like cavalli's customer base.

I agree - Dolces tailoring is great.

Cavalli is disgusting. His designs scream trashfag.

After reading this article I gained a new found respect for Cavalli. His beginnings as t-shirt printer and his insistance on keeping production in Italy...

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1170936-1,00.html

It seems strange that someone would say this...

"China is today's obsession," he says with disgust. "They try to copy everything, and it is terrible. In a couple of years, many factories will close because of China, and this is just the beginning."

Would agree to work with H&M. I don't know if H&M is exclusively made in China or not, but it follow the same line of thinking...

In related news, Petov Dohertzy is the new posterboy for Cavalli's new ad campaign. Should be interesting to see if cavalli might be heading towards the style of pete. Perhaps a taste of it in the h&m line? $$$$

"Hedi’s favorite Dior-addict Pete Doherty was selected to be the face of Roberto Cavalli’s latest ad campaign. He is a bad-ass boy, he loves to party and blows anything around him; yet Robert Cavalli felt that Doherty was the proper man to represent his latest line."

I dunno but Lagerfeld for h&m felt kinda crappy/cheap to me, V&R was horribly vulgar, and Madonna... yuk. I like h&m but I never buy anything there.

i like the idea of h&m but i dont think the execution is rarely quality. for this collaboration i can see it going either way...it could be really tacky (cheap fabrics with lame and sequins) or it could be cool and tailored.

D&G (mainline) have some very well cut suits but I certainly wouldn't say they look like Dior suits; one is a more athletic looking cut with a lot of waist suppression and a bigger drop while the other is a columnar, slim all-around look.

i don't really follow this stuff that closely

but some of cavalli's stuff strikes me as a bit eurotrashy

also, not saying it's not big, but is it bigger than lagerfeld?

or just straight trash.

either way, I'm sure it'll something animal print and bedazzled.
