let me rephrase that.

isetan's overall service is great.

that designer's floor in isetan men's building has relatively shitty service

i think the boutiques in isetan men's store are independently operated... i dunno

the whole point of a brand opening a space in a department is sales and marketing. most japanese "cool kids" rather go to a flagshop or a licensed account holding shop. by opening a space in a department, a different target consumer (obviously the ones who frequent departments stores often) is reached. stores in isetan may be independently operated, but just getting into isetan is a great feat alone. they must adhere to certain policy/critera if they want to get in there and stay in there. i don't doubt that every department has their share of lazy bad SA's, but i would assume that they are better in most sales industry aspects when compared to the outside shops.

i know for a fact the undercover long haired registerboy i'm talking about doesn't rotate isetan. he wouldn't last.

Number Nine - Last xmas time me and some buddies went into the store and the staff were hilarious. Like statues with stone faces just standing there real creepy like staring into space. If you`ve been you know they got that real creepy, quiet sombre atmosphere in there. My friend walks over to the SAs and says real loud in English "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" with a huge smile and sticks out his hand to shake theirs. Smiles gotta be infectious coz even these guys bust out a small smiles and shook his hand. The rest of us just laughed so hard.

Undercover are fucken jerks. I`ve heard them pay out on some kid trying on some pants in the change room like "shit, I hope he doesnt buy em, he`s so uncool." like real loud so the kid could hear.

Confirmation that Comme fucken rule: I went into one store up in Aoyama asking for the garage cologne I like and they said it was in their other store, so a couple of staff escorted me over to the other place but the stuff wasnt there. So then they busted out some skinhead French dude from the future from out of the back who could speak English. I think they had him in Cryofreeze in the back. And then he`s like oh garage is out of production but let me check the back. So he goes back and gets me one. Fucken legends.

I always find Neighborhood and Blackflag real chill. They dont try too hard but I like that, I like to be left alone.

Bathing Ape try way too hard these days. Real friendly and nice but I kinda miss when the staff thought they were demi gods.

Basically dont take any of these dudes seriously or get intimidated by em, especially Japs. Its all front and you can fake them out by just not following the script, like what my friend did in Number Nine. Basically 99% of Japs are fake and are just acting out. SuFuers next time you go into UC I want you guys to loudly pay out on the staffers, on Japan and on their small dicks in English. They know some English, they`ll figure it out.

I think the consensus among a lot of the country (probably more haters than not), is that Japanese chicks get with white guys if they can't get a good japanese boyfriend cause white guys have the image that they'll treat them right.

They get with black guys to stand out and "be different"

Nothing makes me want to return home more than walking down the street and seeing socks and sandles, cargo shorts (worn nerd not street), horribly fitting shirt, ugly face ponytail white dude with a Japanese girl who's somewhere around a 5 or 6.

That's not particularly high, but way higher than these fucks deserve.

Which is why I avoid shibuya-harajuku on the weekends. I fucking hate the typical american tourist.

most nigerians are trying to have you come to their club/strip club/hip-hop store (the clubs are usually big rip-off btw). they are just insanely persistent and annoying, if not outright scary sometimes, especially to girls since many of them are really into grabbing ppl by the arm and not letting them go. + they pretend to be american when most of them can barelly speak english. and i've never seen of of these guys with a girl i would rate higher than 2.

as for for black guys, it's the same as with other foreigners, there a small % of japanese girls that love them, but the vast majority doesn't care.

LOL. what is the point of this?

i'm going to go out on a far limb and defend the nigerians.

i know it's irritating because they're some of the shortest blackmen in the world. YES, it gets on everyone's nerves that they wear nyc or la clothing like they rep those cities, but never been there and can't speak too much english.

even so this is all they can do. i'm sure if they could get better jobs they'd definitely do so. somebody has to keep the riff raff out of the establishments i frequent and in the shops that i don't. the nigerians facilitate this service. no sense disrepecting their hustle.

they are persistent and grab arms and what not, but that's not so different from the japanese scoutmen cruising shibuya or waiting in front of the trainstations.

nigerians go home!

i don't care if they stay or go, but they're not so different from any other ethnic groups immigrating to other countries in the early stages.

and if you're not japanese you've got no right to hate.

he was literally a "skinhead" because he had a shaved gleaming noggin. he wasn't wearing any boots and braces. the last time i saw him he was wearing green junya x vans a joe-jackson looking one button jacket ala the stepping out era.

In that case I'll be the skinhead French dude from the future who works at Comme who is both literally a "skinhead" and dressed like one.

I understand that, I just found it weird that their would be nigerians in japan. I would be weirded out if I saw this as a tourist. I mean, they are not exactly neighboring countries. Is there some sort of social program between the two or did they just end up on the wrong boat?

actually i really am often baffled by immigration laws of japan (obviously i've never had a reason to research). maybe theres a special work visa them. the "faux hiphopper visa" or something. just like the philipino ramen-visa or the thai bargirl one...

no, there's absolutely no reason why nigerians, it just happened like this, for no particular reason. also, all the street jewelry sellers are israelis (a lot of hash dealer also), also have no idea why.

Hmm, I really can't confirm any of the bad experiences you guys had. I guess I give off the "understated but rich looking gaijin" vibe that shopkeepers like so much. While I agree that most sales staff spoke English only to the level of basic communication, they were really trying their best to be helpful. In one random store somewhere in Harajuku that had BW sneakers and a bunch of other authentic mil stuff, the guy called his other shop and had a worker from there come over just to get me something I wanted in a size they didn't have stocked. That's service.
