I have - but not for a long time, I need to go back.

fwiw we ended up going to Expatriate on killingsworth since it was determined that drinking was more important than eating on this particular evening.

tho the food we got was still good - cucumber salad and game hen esp.

Going to be in portland soon, only going to be there for a day. What are some places I must visit? shopping and food? Any recommendation is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Shopping:
Table of Contents for clothes and curated books
Self Edge for denim and related things

Monograph Bookwerks for an insanely well curated and stocked selection of used art books at well under internet prices. I've picked up some of my most prized belongings from there.
Maaklab for your soap needs!
Woodlands shop (tanner) for clothes too

Food:
Luce - good italian

Biwa - really good asian food and decent selection of spirits and really good mixed drinks

Gruner - really damn good burger

Ox - you got money and want good meat? This is the place to go

Spielmans Bagel - only place to get a good bagel in portland

Sweedeedee - soup and pie for breakfast

Extracto - decent coffee

Courier Coffee - good coffee, good atmosphere, good people. Featured in Popeye magazine~

Traveling to Portland in a couple weeks and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good cobbler. I would be interested in getting my Alden 405s resoled in a way that makes sense (stacked leather soles with hopefully a Vibram or Cat's Paw type tread)

I don't trust anyone where I live (I had the soles butchered last time) and I figured there'd be a place in PDX that does this kind of work

Visiting Portland for the first time this coming January. How bad does the weather typically get? Should I invest in some snow/weatherproof boots?

you should be able to get by with a rain coat + warm layer and boots unless you happen to visit the one week it snows.
