Spielmans Bagel - only place to get a good bagel in portland

Sweedeedee - soup and pie for breakfast

Extracto - decent coffee

Courier Coffee - good coffee, good atmosphere, good people. Featured in Popeye magazine~

Traveling to Portland in a couple weeks and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good cobbler. I would be interested in getting my Alden 405s resoled in a way that makes sense (stacked leather soles with hopefully a Vibram or Cat's Paw type tread)

I don't trust anyone where I live (I had the soles butchered last time) and I figured there'd be a place in PDX that does this kind of work

Visiting Portland for the first time this coming January. How bad does the weather typically get? Should I invest in some snow/weatherproof boots?

you should be able to get by with a rain coat + warm layer and boots unless you happen to visit the one week it snows.
