Finally, the time has come...Surprised this wasn't brought up yet

Is it mind bending Aphex or shitty Aphex is the real question here.

Genuinely interested in what exactly you would consider to be shitty Aphex?

That's more of a joke from the old says of the IDM mailing list than a serious statement.

This is a seriously insane Aphex Twin interview complete with unreleased images and songs embedded into the interview, even some tracks by his son..

What just happened this morning is unreal, especially if you're a deep Aphex Twin fan: https://aphextwin.warp.net

Tons of tons of unreleased work even from The Tuss and AFX aliases.

You crazy Americans!

While bored a few years ago i stumbled across this thread while lurking the darker recesses and thought.. 'what the fuck is IDM? odd that i come from Sheffield, arguably it's spiritual home. I spent most of my vinyl-junky formative years hanging around Warp and previously FON, Steve Beckett used to live just around the corner from me and one of my friends worked at TDR... from the late 80's to the mid-90's i immersed myself in Bleep, pirate radio and rave culture in general yet the first time i was ever aware of the term IDM was this thread
Ive since found out where the term originated but even tho a lot of this music hails from the UK, you would never hear anyone from the UK refer to this genre as 'IDM'.. at least i never have so thanks for enlightening me :)

^ I worked with a Geordie geezer about 20 years ago who was the only person I’ve ever heard say “IDM” when referring to this type of music. He kept loads of CDs in his desk drawer and played them on his PC, listening via headphones, whilst I looked down on him, plugged into my Touch Wheel iPod!
