Story time:

Last year I was working at a clarks store out in SoCal. Dude comes in looking for Wallabees. All he wants are Wallabees. He buys all the colors we have in mens and ask if we have the baby blue's in men. I said no, but he could wear the womens, and nobody would know. His response was, "nah homey where im from niggas know - they can spot you from a mile away kid, for real".

That guy was Raekwon.

hahaha i just read this shit.

where's the cheapest place to get a pair of wallys... other than ebay? like some secret chucks for 5 wallys for 15 ting.

Today I went to a Clarks outlet (seattle premium outlets) and was looking around and thought I saw some wallabees, but the were called 'padmore', which I found pretty interesting. They pretty much look like wallabees, but instead of a crepe sole they had some kind of rubber sole that was supposed to look like a crepe sole. They also had a weird red tab that said 'clarks' on it.

I wasn't a fan.

Anyone else seen these before? (am I just late?)

I've seen these too, at a Clarks outlet in Maine. I'm not a fan of them either, but intrigued by them none the less. They aren't on any Clarks website I have found. They kind of remind me the Wallabees on clarksoriginals.com (which has some great shoes, if anyone knows where to get them in the States lemme know).

Anyway, who knows the deal with these second rate Wallies?

Do any of you cats know a way possible to reinvigorate the crepe soles on Clark's shoes? I have a beautiful pair of P&B black leather low-cut Wallabees, a pair of beeswax Desert Treks, and a fantastic pair of Clarks Portabellos all of which have what seems to be a petrified sole. After years of shelf life, I wanted to start wearing them again but they are very, very uncomfortable - the antitheses of what these soles are intended to present. Any tricks for getting the softness back?

Thanks for the help!

i've never tried this, but i've heard people say that if you put them out in the sun on a hot day that it helps soften the soles up. another person has said that putting them in the oven at moderate heat for just a bit helps. sounds crazy i know, but the point is to warm the things up. who knows, maybe microwaving would work! :D

Thanks for the tip on heating them up in the summer rhythymandsound (even though it sounds a bit suspect - The Dashboard Method!).

mlproject, as far as re-soleing the shoe, how do you get the same crepe sole?

Is it a relatively easy process or do I have to find some sort of specialist. My apologies if this is a silly question, but I'm in the dark on this.

Thanks again, fellas.

Been wanting to pick up some clarks.. will be my first pair. I wanted to get some wallabees, maybe the beeswax leather ones. Which ones look better with say, the regular slim pants/jeans? which is more comfortable? Hi ones or low? I like the look when they're all worn in and beat up.. Do the beeswax wallabees look more worn in, faster?

Also, cheapest place to buy? I read somewhere above that shoesbuy.com had them for a decent price..

The "dashboard method" works! I left my superhard sole wallabees in my car in the sun for a day* (this was in summer) and they softened right up, they haven't hardened up yet either. Since it is winter (in my hemisphere) and if you are scared of putting them in the oven (like I was) maybe you could put them on/near a heater/vent/furnace? Like others have said, you really just have to warm them up!

*see page 8

edit: maybe use the blowdryer?:confused:

there are a few places that'll resole clarks for around $50 including return shipping. i think rhythmandsound linked one further up in the thread.

i haven't found a place to resole the plaintoes as it has a bit of a different sole, but i tried reheating with my roommate's hairdryer last night and i'm in business.

If you're in the LA area.

Stop by melrose and it's the storen with the all glass front that sells nike, adidas, kangol, track suits and what not. (forgot the name) its kinda infront of fairfax high. Got my beeswax wallys there for 89 and change, that's including tax.

And the best analogy i could think of is:

Wallabees = Air Huarache 2k4

Padmore = Air Total Package

The clerk at the outlet told me that basically the padmore is like the "poor-man's" wallabees.

I think you are talking about sporty LA. i think they have a website, but there might not be any info on the shoes they carry exactly.

got my beeswax wallies today for $60. A buddy of mine works at journeys, so he gave me his discount. Absolutely love them. They're a little weird feeling with the tall sole but I'm sure it'll wear down a bit fairly fast.

yea, the soles were always what held me back, but I'm short so I guess I could do with that extra height.

Nope, it's before sporty LA. It's the store between the place that sell leather shoes (they have wallys too but no sizes) and the store with vintage disney tees.
