I find it hard to recommend movies. But given what you listed, try these:

Bladerunner

Gladiator

Heat

Dirty Harry

Total Recall

Beverly Hills Cop

Alien(s) I and II

Boogie Nights

Indiana Jones Triology

Star Wars Trilogy

The French Connection

The Bourne Identity

The Professional

The Shining

Full Metal Jacket

The Thing!!! (okay, I'm reaching icon_smile.gif)

The Exorcist (Aside from the head spinning demon child, I think this is actually a quality film, even an art film in a lot of ways)

Classics:

Rear Window

Seven Samurai

Streetcar Named Desire

The Great Escape

Citizen Kane

Casablanca

Dr. Strangelove

Art:

Anything by Cassavettes

Early Godard

Anything Bergman

Rashômon (Kurosawa) -it'll blow your mind!

Anyway, I'm just guessing. There are a lot of great movies out there.

Second the Oldboy recomendation. One cool ass movie.

Anyone here seen "Ichi the Killer"? Released a few years before Oldboy but I've seen a lot press comparing the two.

Ichi the killer is pretty nice but I wouldn't compare the style to Oldboy...I mean they're both violent asian films but that's about it...

It's a Wonderful Life

2001: A Space Odyssey

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (2-disc version)

25th Hour

Cool Hand Luke

True Romance (Director's Cut)

Heat (Spec. edition is off the meat rack)

Platoon/FullMetal/Apocalypse (every other Nam movie sorta blows).

Mystic River

Reservoir Dogs (10th Ann. Edition)

American Beauty

The Professional (Leon en Francais)

La Femme Nikita (Special Edition)

Predator (OG with Ahnold, Jesse and Weathers...special edition!)

Godfather Tril

Indiana Jones Tril

Clockers (slept on Spike Lee jawn)

also peep Hitchcock collections, Kubrick, Cassavettes (Killing of a Chinese Bookie is great) and recently I been getting into Woody Allen. holmes reps NY to the fullest, and you can't fuck with that.

as far as scary, The Exorcist, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the OG one by Tobe Hooper, not the new garbage ones) and the Shining (OG Kubrick, and I ain't talking about little dolls) are the 3 scariest films I've ever fucked with.

dope documentary: Bruce Lee: A Warrior's Journey. if you can find this on DVD, get it. It's the best Lee doc ever made, hands down blows away the comp. they air it on American Movie Classics from time to time but it's otherwise hard to find.

Porn: north Pole, vivid, Jim Holliday films.

Enjoy...
