There are some products I like the smell of...and then there are others I actually want to smell like. Coconuts/pina colada/pineapple is fine for body wash, etc., but its not something I personally wan to smell of. Seems like everyone wants to though...so give 'em a try! :D

Very true...coconut would lend itself better to a woman.

...and no, not a specialist. I always thought I knew a lot until I read others' knowledge on blogs that made me look like a chump. I still like to talk about it though (if that wasn't completely obvious by the number of posts I've made in this thread).

Was given a sample of JPG's Fleur Du Male today...essentially smells exactly the same as Le Male (which to me smells like cake) but with orange blossom...yawn. I guess if you like the original and want a "summery" version, it might be for you. Would go great with his tranny-like men's make-up line. :P

I went to a CDG store a few days ago.

I didn't like the guerilla 1 but I thought guerilla 2 was excellent.

The newest CDG fragrance PLAY was excellent as well.

You get a CDG PLAY t-shirt and a bottle of PLAY cologone for 130 USD + tax.

That's a decent deal, I guess.

Agreed on the guerilla comment.

How is play? Anything that stood out or something you could compare it to?

I tried this a few months back - so unbelievably potent. I didn't find it much like Le Male at all (neither smell like Cake to me :P) - but Fleur is definitely orange blossom. People will be smelling you before you walk into the building.

Really? I found it to be almost identical to the original...either way, its crazy strong and nasty...just like the original. Blech.

On an orange blossom note - I'm still waiting for the new Fahrenheit to hit Canada. We'll see if dior did orange blossom right.

I only wear two these days. Bvlgari Pour Homme and Dune Pour Homme (Dior).

I hardly wear cologne tho, I'm afraid of getting it on my clothes then having to wash them too often (for formalwear mostly).

I guess I could just spray on body after a shower then chill out nekkid before putting on my suit... that'll work.

How much are you putting on exactly? It shouldn't be ruining your clothes!

That's a good thing to discuss actually...I know some of you boys are putting waaaaaay too much on.

My rule of thumb - no more than 4 sprays in total. Be it 2 on your neck, one on each wrist or whatever. Depends also on your skin type (dry skin - put more, oily, put less) and the cologne you're wearing (if its strong out of the bottle, it'll be strong on your too). Another tip for those of you who've been wearing the same scent for years...you can't smell it anymore because you're used to it...not because its old or gone bad. Oh, and no spraying in your hair...that's nasty and bad for your scalp.

I don't like putting much on, so it's no more than one spray. Sometimes I feel one spray is too much, so I take off the cap and dab it lightly with my finger.

I didn't say it was ruining my clothes, I just don't like the idea of my clothes being scented, that's all.

Generally one spray to the chest and/or dab it lightly behind ears, neck, wrists.

Gotcha...I thought maybe you were dousing yourself to the point of leaving watermarks!

If you're not familiar, Serge Lutens' line of fragrances are some of the most coveted, highly praised scents on the market today. There are currently two lines, one available exclusively in Paris, and one "export" range available globally. Most of the scents are heavy, complex orientals that you either love or hate.

Either way, the point of this post was to mention that 2 new fragrances are expected on the market shortly, one for each line.

If you happen upon a store that carries them, they're usually pretty generous with the samples...and better yet, if you're in Paris, pop in Shiseido and have a sniff (and bring some back for me please).:D

I tried on Odeur 53 at Barney's the other day. I really like it, it has a really interesting smell when you first spray (nail polish I think was something I smelled, very metallicy), but it tones down really quickly, and now smells florally/musky. I really like, I think I'm going to get it when I get my next paycheck.

Polo Double Black

Burberry(sp?) Britt

Oh yeah and a bunch of samples ranging from like Dolce & Gabbana to Calvin Klein Euphoria to some Tommy Bahama scent. Thanks to a family that works for Nordstrom, of course :P But then again, so do I o.o

I really only wear the Issey Miyake now because the other are too...eh, strong?

If Issey Miyake is the weakest of the lot, I'd hate the smell the others.

too sweet. i have a bottle and i havent used it in 2 years

I agree...not high on my list either. Has anyone smelled the new Chanel series? I've yet to make it to the store to smell them (something uncomfortable about going to Chanel if you're a man...).

haha. well i noticed that it doesn't smell the same to me as when i had bought it a few weeks ago. i asked the lady at the counter for a aqua di gio alternative because i like more watery scents and that's the best she could come up with. but yeah, it's smelled alot stronger lately. if only, aqua di gio wasn't so f'ing popular. i love that scent but it's like every other kid has it (i'm in highschool) and i just don't want to be 'another one in the crowd' in that dept. :P on the other hand as far as me favoring issey over the others is that the other two scents smell like something my dad would wear and not a 17 y/o highschooler. granted, i'm sure the issey miyake is in that category too.

Not that you asked, but my suggestions would be:

-Eau De Cartier

-Eau Sauvage by Dior

-Jil Sander (I think its called Sander...can't remember, its in a bottle that sits on a tilt)

Give those a shot next time you're at the mall (the 3rd may be a bit harder to come by) and let me know what you think. I'm not a big "fresh/watery" smell kinda guy, but I like each of those.
