White Manna is so slept on. Glad to see out of state folk representing it. Where can fried chicken bao be copped?

I'm assuming Momo fried chicken is over priced. No fried chicken dinner is worth that much effort and money. Nice eats all around though.

Some of my friends did it and said it was worth the experience but they wouldn't do it again.

I'd rather eat a whole meal of their pork buns and soft serve :\

momofuku fried chicken is okay, but the overall experience with 8 friends is pretty good. Theres much better fried chicken in the surrounding neighborhood.

Burrito from Chipotle .. Barbacoa, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, black bean, salsa. Definitely my favorite corporate "fast food" mexi spot.

Velveeta Rotina & Cheese

5375150644_60fe19858a_z.jpg

Made a couple of these burritos on the cheap the other night. Ground beef, refried beans, sharp cheddar/colby jack, pace salsa, and el yucateca habenero sauce. Threw some extra cheese on top and put it in the oven for a few minutes after rolling it.

5374550429_41b02d6ae5_z.jpg

The inside was a deliciously gooey mixture. Made about 8 of them for a group of friends.

Nicely done. How'd you like the Momofuku chicken?

It was a cool experience. I would only do it again if I had 8 people to split the bill with. Just 4 people eating a mountain of chicken is too much. We finished it though. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough vegetables/moo shu pancakes. After those ran out, it was just eating a fuck-ton of chicken, which got exhausting.

White Manna was awesome.

Best sliders I've had. Cheap as fuck too.

Some of my friends did it and said it was worth the experience but they wouldn't do it again.

I'd rather eat a whole meal of their pork buns and soft serve :\

Yeah, the chicken isn't that crazy. It's good, but you can find comparable korean fried chicken for a friendlier price elsewhere.

Baohaus baohaus baohaus. Nothing but love for that place, good god I want one right now.

Baohaus was awesome... thanks for the tip!

I'm gonna come back and order a fuck-ton of Pies-n-Thighs

everything looks good, except that katsu curry. I don't understand why you can't get decent curry rice in America. :(

American people dont like yoshoku. Actually curry-ya and gogo curry have decent katsu curry by US standards(no prepackaged roux). Aburiya Kinnosuke has a really good gyusuji curry for lunch. Theres a new yoshoku place I've been meaning to hit up but its in tribeca. http://www.tribecafe.net/menus/TBC_menu.pdf

I dont really travel below canal in manhattan.

I'm gonna make a curry rice recipe off the top of my head, but trust me on this shit, make it and see if this shit is not the truth:

1)

2 lbs of beef stew meat, cut into 1" cubes

1/4 cup flour

S+P

vegetable oil

Coat beef cubes in flour and S+P, heat over medium heat, brown until meat is brown with a dark golden crust

brown a minced onion in drippings, deglaze with a few splashes of brandy and then add a 1/2 bottle of red wine, cover in 3 cans of ready made fond de veau or beef consomme plus a bit of water, boil and simmer until fat globules are falling off meat, about 3 or 4 hours, skimming occasionally. Mixture should reduce a bit to a consistency slightly thinner than syrup.

Rest, and then chill. Skim off fat layer before step 2)

2)

grated apple

minced banana

4 large onions sliced paper thin

ketchup

oil

brown onions until dark brown, add fruit, cook until mixture is deep brown, add a few squirts of ketchup.

Add:

4.5 Tablespoons curry powder

1.5 Tbsp chili powder

1.5 Tbs shichimi togarashi

1.5 Tbsp cumin

1. TBsp garam masala

1 Tbsp oregano

1 Tbsp coriander powder

3 bay leaves

mix in spices, and then mix in beef in stock (step 1) bring to boil, then simmer for 30 minutes. If texture is rough, fish out the beef and hit with hand blender til smooth. Add:

1 can ready made Japanese demiglace sauce

simmer until deep brown and saucy, taste and add a couple shakes of curry powder if needed, remove bay leaves, and serve with vegetable glacee.
