about 4-5 years ago, i was in NYC with my brother during the MTV VMA's. we didnt even know and we walked right by the red carpet and saw a bunch of celebs and talked to some of the MTV VJ's and stuff. fun stuff.

other than that, i was in LA this past summer and saw Mischa Barton at a gas station outside the Beverly Center.

also, i used to work at a shoe store here called Solefood and Dave Matthews walked in...nice guy.

^^^I've always liked the version of "there she goes" that's played in the opening scene of that movie.

Any way, when I was in college I was in charge of cultural programming/concerts for undergrads so I had to book various types of bands/artists, etc. Run DMC probably tops my list in terms of memorable encounters. They were all very nice dudes, especially Jam Master Jay.

The strangest thing that has happed to me was with Saul Williams. After a show, I had to take him back to his hotel, but instead of going back to his hotel, he wanted me to take him to a strip club. It was me, him, and one of his homies. Very weird night.

the dude from the O.C. (Adam Brody) went to my high school, remember seeing him at parties and round campus, never really friends just knew him on a "hey whats up dude" basis. His personality is kinda the same as the dude in the t.v. show he plays. Oh and he had beach blond curly afro hair back then like justin timberlake had when he first came out.

living in NYC, i always have the delayed reaction kind of encounter, it always takes a couple seconds too long to register who it was..

anyway, the other week, I saw Smokin' Aces and while I was waiting for my friends to get out of the bathroom, I realized Futura was doing the same thing. I guess everyone likes punishing themselves with crappy movies every now and then

I went to Benihana about two years ago with a big group before my school's homecoming dance. While we were waiting outside the restaurant for a few of our group members to show up a black guy wearing a shirt that said "I LOVE MY CHURCH" walks down the steps to the restaurant. One of my friend points and laughs at the guy for wearing such a rediculous shirt. Turns out that the guy is actually Roy Williams pro bowl safety for the Dallas Cowboys. Being a big Roy Williams fan, even though I hate the Cowboys, I go up to Roy and tell him that I am a big fan of his. He shakes my hand and asks me if I was at Benihana for some sort of dance or something. I say that I am with a group of kids for my school's homecoming dance. Anyway as we walk past Roy William's table on the way to our table Roy says, "What's up Ben?" to me right in front of all of my buds and I reply with a "nothing much Roy." Later on in the middle of our meal a waiter comes up to me and asks me if I was Ben and I reply, "Yes, why do you ask?" he says that Mr. Williams wanted to know. Turns out that when it comes time to pay for our meal Roy Williams had paid for my date and I's tab. True story and one that I will remember for a long time (especially if Roy ever becomes a Hall of Famer).

i have a bunch but i'm trying to think of some highlights...

eminem called me a little faggot when i was 15. i'm sorry

i ruined your mtv special, dude.

felicia rashad said i was the most beautiful baby she'd ever

seen in her life to my mom at a mall in upstate new york.

thank you, cosbymom.

i saw an olsen doing blow at an NYU dorm. i don't know which

one it was, though. your titty was showing, olsen. sideboob.

bruce labruce wanted to cast me in a gay porno, but i passed,

because i'm not gay. in retrospect, i probably should have done

it. bruce, call me.

EDIT: I realize now in retrospect that people might not take

these seriously because I wrote them in a very flippant way,

but they're all true, and I have plenty more.

hmm, let's see...

a lot in SoHo:

David Chappelle shopping at Union (he didn't buy anything I dont think)

A very cute Rosie Perez on what looked like a date with some guy

The Sex and the City girls a lot cuz they filmed a lot around here

The Queer as Folk boys filming

Yochi Yamamoto outside his store

Clubs/bars/restaurants:

Christina Aguilera at Bowery Bar

Pink at some bar I forgot

Dean and Dan Caten (of Dsquared) at Duvet, they're very short and had awesome cowboy boots on

Broadway/Times Sq tons:

At the Cabaret revival a few years ago, Anthony Edwards of ER was my urinal buddy during intermission.

Outside the Cort theatre I believe --Tom Cruise after the first preview performance of his then-wife Nicole Kidman's play The Blue Room, he is DAMN short!

Some off Broadway theatre I forget -- Uma Thurman the day before opening night of her play The Misanthrope. I shook her hand and wished her luck. She on the other hand is DAMN tall and her skin is as soft as cashmere.
