Great article explaining the evolution of dubstep over the past 4 years from Playground Mag: http://www.playgroundmag.net/especial/16843

I think it's unfair to call James Blake "emostep," but it is still a very good article IMO.

Emostep? That's fucking retarded. He has a jazz and classical background, not fucking My Chemical Romance.

I've really been digging Mimosa lately. This guy is just fuckin awesome.

Saw him live in Denver earlier this year and I must say that he is absolutely terrible. The highlight of the show was when he dropped DJ Fresh - Gold Dust (Flux Pavilion Remix) and that isn't even his tune.

My problem with Mimosa is that he is too glitchy. The melodies are too light and airy and they completely overshadow any sort of emphasis of the bass. Dubstep in this vain just really bothers me. I feel like this sort of "dubstep" is more geared towards hippies that are candy flipping, versus true dubstep enthusiasts.

highlight tune was flux remix of gold dust ... ?

My point exactly. That's exactly how bad the show was. Luckily Lorn and Ras G from Brainfeeder were playing in the other room. I left about half way through Mimosa to get a little Low Down Theory action on. Now those guys were fucking great.

True dubstep enthusiasts +

Yeah....maybe I should have said people that have a decent knowledge/good taste in bass heavy music? Either way Mimosa was fucking terrible.

chop n skrewed and butta by dj rashad are some of my favorite tracks in general... his recent remixes all been moving as well

as far as other juke, dj earl, dj elmoe, dj spinn, cedaa, dj manny, and dj nate i like alot. you listen to retail juke/write off 12 by andrea? im feeling that more produced sound on those two tracks, especially retail juke.
