RA tore Skrillex a new one in their review of his Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites EP this week.

I havta agree with a lot of what they say in the review. I agree that many US producers/DJs have perverted dubstep instead of evolved it from its original, dark UK roots.

I've always preferred Caspa's dark, wobblier take on dubstep. So his Dub Police set is probably my favorite crew in the scene (and there is nothing better to rave for than a Dub Police show with Rod Azlan behind the mic). But I couldn't even begin to list all of the types of dubstep and artists that I consider to be good. Right now my favorite dubsteppers (if you can even call them that) are the Night Slugs crew. They are taking heavy bass to a whole new level.

There's a reason noone who used to make decent music in the UK will admit to making 'dubstep' anymore, the only people who will are those who've moved in from other genres like DnB (and even the best of them like Zinc and Redlight make Crackhouse etc) and the Caspa, Rusko, Skream etc brigade who have made good music and have great taste in music (Rusko's few shows on BBC 1xtra were pretty sick) but are happy to firmly occupy the middle of the road to fill clubs and student nights and make cash.

none too specific to dubstep but http://gottadancedirty.com / http://ppelectro.blogspot.com / http://spotheads.blogspot.com/ mostly

about that skrillex review, i enjoy his music to a certain extent but the reviewer is basically correct; stuff is not a good representation of dubstep. i hear people on the daily talking about the 'dubstep' they like and listing deadmau5 and other similar artists. the loud in your face stuff, namely cookie monsta, 12th planet, skrillex, funtcase, borgore, etc., is fun but when compared to goth-trad, loefah, caspa, burial and the likes it is hard to call it dubstep
