Unknown Japanese Brands

Recommended Posts

@Bobbo there's not a whole lot listed on Matin's web store, just a 12 oz. redline selvedge from Japan.
Gave them a wash last night, so hope that they'll be dry by tomorrow.

Don’t know the brand, just think it’s a cool piece of indigo dyed Japanese clothing

Thinking about possibly selling the rebuilt.jp 20's I posted above to get a size up, they shrank quite a bit in the wash so the waist is a little too snug.
Might make 'em work but if anyone is interested let me know.

Anyone heard of go west denim? Found something interesting with a leather yoke and so on and am not sure about sizing.

Welp, just ordered the go west jeans of off grailed. Will try to post pics once they arrive. They seem to be pre-2007, as they have arcs and a tab. Let's see how they'll work out and so on.

Yawara Miura posted some photos of what the rebuilt.jp 20's pair I got will fade like, really nice!
Hoping I can make them work, need to start running again.

Those do look seriously good. Any info on where he sources his fabric?

Honestly not too sure, but I’m sure that Miura has a lot of influence on the specs of the denim. I could sell you my 36’s so I can get a 38.  I think I the pair I have is a bit closer to 34 honestly, just haven’t measured them.

If yours were the '50s pair in that post I'd be all over it. Not too big on '10s / '20s detailing to begin with, and with the M41200 in my rotation that slot's already feeling full. Any info on the other jeans he does? Not great at Instagram.

I get it, the 20’s are a very specific cup of tea. I think that the 50’s pair he posted is just a sample that was made for himself, I don’t think they were ever in production.

There’s really not much info on Ono-san’s jeans, I messaged him before the Matin 20’s pair I bought asking if I could buy a pair and he just said no. :D So I jumped on the 20’s, which are just a tad snug in the waist but perfect from the thigh down.

Also they’re pretty cheap for a one man brand. If anyone’s interested I’d let them go for 180 shipped in the US, so I can recoup almost what I paid and buy a size up.

Took delivery of the GoWest-Jeans this week. No fit pics as of yet. They seem to be NOS, as they still had little plastic thingy from the tags attached and look completely unworn.
The denim has a strong grey/green-cast, is super-rough and has a nice irregular light-red/pink selvedge line. The yoke and the part between pocket-openings and waistband are made of a black/dark navy leather, which I condinioned with a bit of mink-oil, as it seemed dry.
Would be thrilled to know a little more about the brand, so if anybody got a little more knowledge on them, hit me up ;)

Anyone ever heard of this brand before? Phil Moreau or something like that?
Seems to be made in Japan according to the tag, I can't find anything online.

Upon further research these are made by Fil Melange, the Japanese t-shirt and knit brand. Should’ve been obvious with the FM tab. ^_^ Fine_march_110.jpg

Thanks mate, very interesting.

Always though his first gig was at Lapine where all the boys worked just before they started their brands.

As much as ever Alex.. as a chronic early bird i have a couple of hours to kill in the morning while the lazy bones'es are still in bed.

Ive posted about Rodeo Standard before, Ed has a pair, he's posted about them over here, some pairs look great...some not so much so.

This mornings 'denim worm' Smith's Overalls

If memory serves Smith's used vintage hardwear (im not sure if there was some association/license with 'Big Smith' Overalls) so the buttons look lovely.

AFAIK, Big Smith never went by just “Smith’s”, even in the ‘30s. Earliest buttons from them that I know if are like so:
