Most underrated city?

totally agreed. prague is not underrated. it's not overrated either.

there is nothing about prague that is underrated. maybe 10 years ago. not saying it's a bad city, it's great, just not underrated.

to me, underrated means the quality of said city are disproportional to the interest in traveling there. this is not the case with prague anymore.

how about Bordeaux? Not the surounding idyllic country side, but the city itself. Or maybe Rotterdam or Utrecht (which get little love do to Amsterdam).

Or maybe Rotterdam or Utrecht (which get little love do to Amsterdam).

There was a brief period when R'dam was cooler than Amsterdam about 5 years ago, because a lot of new clubs/shops/restaurants/galleries opened their doors while in Amsterdam a lot of spots (were) closed down. Those days are long gone.

Utrecht is tiny. Nice for an afternoon of shopping and dinner, but that's pretty much it.

Here are my votes:

- Valencia

- Kiev

- Shanghai (getting popular but still underrated)

- Teheran

really? i'd say it's overrated

co-sign on the Portland, for most (not the superfuture intelligent ones) Americans Canadian cities such as Vancouver and Montreal are overlooked for Toronto.

Also, In my opinion San Fran and San Diego are extremely overlooked when compared to Los Angeles. Both better cities IMHO.

Actually, make that pretty much anything north and up of San Jose.

Dont think so man.. Van was voted best city in the WORLD to live, back to back to back

i agree its a great city, just saying that in the eyes of most of america, it is extremely overlooked.

and as far as "best city in the world", that changes from poll to poll. ive seen montreal and sydney as "the best" for last year and other years. all great cities!

oh, totally. i didn't really mean to offer prague as an underrated city, i was responding to what someone else said before.

Petersburg... Moscow is dirty.

Woah there... Petersburg is not underrated, far from it. There's soooo many tourists it's unbelievable.

If Prague is not underrated according to some, then Petersburg definitely isn't.

BTW would you guys care to elaborate on the whole Osaka > Tokyo thing? :)

Bordeaux is an awesome city, good food, clubs, nice atmosphere, definitely underrated.

Vancouver/Whistler

no tourists know about the suburbs of Vancouver, such good atmosphere and women, then whistlers just awesome.

how can you say Whistler in underrated, every one i know that ski or snowboard talk about the place like addicts take about crack. and the city sucks, it's fun for a while, but once you realise that getting drunk at Maxx Fish is pretty much the only thing to do, it gets boring.

seoul korea > tokyo japan

Former Portuguese colony, Macau is pretty underrated in my opinion. It's a quick ferry ride from Hong Kong. Fun party town with lots of casinos and cute chicks, without the white trash like Vegas and Atlantic City...

Is it worth going? I might have the opportunity to go this summer, and I was thinking about it. What did you like about the city? (anyone else who's been/lives there feel free to chime in)

i had a great time there a couple of months ago, the fcc club is a must

however, thought laos was better - you can go from cambodia into laos up the mekong - all good
