Anime / Manga

I was comparing it to city actors because they're done by the same studio and have similar art styles. The plot isn't really outstanding but at least it's cohesive because it's got better source material since it was based on actual novels instead of music videos. Wouldn't really call it pornographic but ecchi is fine.

that's great advice for people who enjoy passable plots that have been choked by pornographic drivel

As far as I remember it's primarily Nisemonogatari that suffers from this, which is somewhat justified by that season primarily dealing with sexuality. I can't remember if the other seasons are as heavy with the fanservice, I watched them a while ago.

Any thoughts on Sidonia no Kishi? I'm a huge fan of Blame! and this seems like Tsutomu Nihei's attempt at a more mainstream series, but I honestly think he kind of sucks at it. Falling into a lot of shounen tropes. The world is really cool though.

Why is "I am a Hero" not finished? :(... So many cool references in that manga.

Anyone got any other recs that fall in the same vein? I'm a sucker for survival/horror

i think it's p good. have to catch up on manga but i've seen the first couple of episodes of the anime. it's the most palatable for a wider audience but it still feels very nihei to me. i think the use of all the shonen mecha tropes is fine and never feels lackluster to me

anyone reading dead dead demons dededededestruction?

considering dropping it even after the first few chapters, although it's an interesting change of pace from inio asano's other works, it just doesn't "fill the void half full" for me, y'know? maybe picking it up again later once it gets more into it.

probably safe to assume that this is what asano wants to try out with manga, after writing so long with slice-of-life-esque stories. i feel it's just a bit too overwhelming? or it's just the effect that he wants to achieve to start off something?

the manga transforms from an atmospheric space sci fi mecha to a harem romcom. that's what I was getting at with 'shonen tropes.' I thought it was a huge letdown honestly... :(

Fall 2014 discussion anyone?

There's some interesting manga adaptations I'm interested in checking out, namely Parasyte and Terraformars. Besides that, probably gonna check out Psycho-Pass S2, Mushishi, and Ronia the Robber's Daughter, which hopefully brings back the wonderful magical realism of classic Ghibli :)
