not actually an ad, it's a write up in Fashion Journal (an Australian free fashion magazine) which is even worse - there were two other images of sneakers in it too. (including rip off of the straps sneakers)

It really makes me mad when people praise these stores thinking that they're offering something ground breaking...

When I was there with Lyna (my business partner), there were a couple of people handing in their resumes, a sales agent trying to set up sales appointments and so on. All saying how awesome and original the store is. Grrr. There are heaps of stores that do this in Asia but this is probably the first time its been done in a commercial space...

I will be visiting your city next week on a much deserved holiday with the gf. read a good chunk of this thread (not all i admit, it's over 100 pages...) and found so much info, but wanted to make sure i wouldn't miss anything.

the impression that i get re:shopping is that it's overpriced and choice is somewhat limited (pretty much like Canada so i can sympathize, although new york is only a 5 hour drive away so i guess i shouldn't really complain). Should i even bother with shopping? Plus from what i gather, you guys are 6 months behind with collections?

There's just so many restaurants recommendations here so i feel i should be pretty good. However, i promised an original yakiniku / korean bbq restaurant to the gf and haven't really found anything that looked safe yet, any recommendations?

i'll have to get a data prepaid card for my ipad, any preference for the 4 carriers (Telstra, Optus, Vodafone and 3)? will be spending a few days in sydney and then a couple days surfing kinda out of nowhere so good coverage will be important.

Wouldn't mind having some weed for surfing trip, from what i gather, King Cross is my best bet if i don't have any delivery contact? and pricing and quality kinda sucks?

I know we often meet-up with the montreal SuFuers without posting on the site so if some of you are planning something, drop me a line

for korean bbq, I recommend Madang or O Bal Tan - they're next to each other in a little alleyway just off Pitt St in the city. Madang is usually busier with people lining up but I think O Bal Tan is just as good.

google maps

I would generally avoid Telstra for any prepaid data, the other 3 carriers aren't too different from each other but from what I gather Vodafone is better. I'm using 3 myself.

If you are in the Surry Hills area, drop by my store and I could probably hit you up with some recommendations on what to do in Sydney

I got there around 9:00 on Friday and it was packed. Still a lot of douche bag types you would expect around that area of town, but around 12:00 it thinned out nicely and was great.

The music was a little all over the place, and that was my main qualm. Nice fit-out and lighting, good drinks. Pretty good looking girls too...

1. The small groups of over-excited guys wearing terrible clothes that they feel make them look important and successful.

2. Any guy wearing a green or yellow t-shirt. Firstly, it's Winter, secondly its a bar, not Home night club.

3. Anybody talking about how good the Ivy will be tomorrow night, or was last week.

These types are different to the ironic moustache wearing 'look at this fucking hipster' douch bags from oxford street.

those two restaurants in the city are my pick for korean. i prefer o bal tan over madang and i think you can book it too...whereas madang you can only book if your going before 6:30 from my recollection..

for yakiniku - suminoya in martin place does a great jap bbq buffet for 45-50$ pp depending on the day you go ... just order the beef rib finger x 20 plates and save room for 4-5 scoops of their green tea ice cream :)

are you staying in the city? as there are some pretty good korean places for bbq outside in suburbs such as eastwood

Went to Cafe Ish on Wednesday night for the ribs. Good stuff. Someone should have said that they get better as the night goes on... I assume that the later you get there the better they are. The meat softens and the sauce thickens (homo). The lemon delicious is awesome as well.

Ran in to Mel there as well.

So Im completely over clubbing and havn't been going out on the regular for a while, I feel out of touch of whats good out there.

Can people recommend me some nice quiet bars in the inner city. You know places that you can actually converse with people with out having to listen to crap dance music.. Any suggestions ?

cheers Ivan...I'm always on the lookout for good ribs. Hurricane's doesn't quite cut it for me anymore.

that reminds me, I can't remember if this has been mentioned in the thread before but South Restaurant in Neutral Bay also does decent ribs and Southern US style food. Small dining area so best to book beforehand.
