I just got back from Boracay a few weeks ago. I was there when the big typhoon hit (10th of december). Is that White Beach I see? Where did you stay?

I stayed at the Regency. what airport did you fly into boracay from? i flew out of Kalibo, they canceled my flight going out on saturday night, that was kind of a harrowing experience, PAL basically left us assed out, luckily we got onto a flight the next morning but still..yikes.

I had a flight leaving from Manila to Amsterdam on the 11th, the day after the typhoon hit. Phone lines were down, so was electricity. Lots of roads jammed because of fallen trees and poles. We did manage to reach the ferry but there were 300 people waiting for one 30 passenger boat. We just said fuck it and headed back to Bulabog and chilled. We ended up staying for an extra week.

We flew from Caticlan to Manila. I hear Kalibo is cheaper, but you need a longer cab ride?

Definitely planning to go back next year.

i haven't been "back home" for like eight years. tisswat, are you filipino? my parents want to go back but they know that if they plan it we're taking a week or more over in tokyo haha

yeah i think the trade off is that there is a longer "ride" probably shouldve went with caticlan but oh well..hindsight..

from what I saw, and this was my first time, its gotten pretty commercialized. one of the people i went with said that there was a big difference from the last time she went which was in 05.

I hear palawan is really nice, especially for scuba diving..

Nope Sam, I'm not a Filipino. Actually the only reason I went to Boracay because it's good for kiteboarding. And it turned out to be pretty cool island as well. I spent most of my time on Bulabog during the daytime and White Beach at night.

I was amazed by how many weddings I saw there. And Koreans.. heaps and heaps of Koreans. It must be the Bahamas or Hawaii of South Korea. And they sure love their unisex outfits - his and hers all the way.
