here are just a couple photos of the "GTWPO103" Model, these are a 14.7 dry.raw. unwashed zimbabwe denim that are a moderate straight cut with medium rise. the cotton is soft, glossy, and superior in whiteness. the printed lines on the right hip pocket is inspired by the stripes of regimental colors in the Warring States Period. the leather patch on these is made of deerskin printed with the illustration of Momotaro on it. button fly front with original momotaro buttons. Inseam is said to be 32"inch for 2007, but my 2006 models are 35"inch inseam so I need to clarify this with them. they are sanforized to minimize shrinkage. maybe 1.5inc in length.

NEVERMIND! I CANT UPLOAD THE PHOTOS FOR SOME REASON, TOO BIG, SO IF YOU ARE INTERESTED PLEASE EMAIL ME AND I WILL REPLY WITH PHOTOS OF THE "GOING TO WAR" MODEL AND OTHER MODELS IF YOU WANT A DIFFERENT CUT..

Sorry guys, I don't have the time to resize all the files to fit this blog regulations..

I am happy to email anything you need..

What appears to be their main site

http://www.momotaroujeans.com/

has been down since I first looked when this thread went up. Oddly, found this other official site

http://www.japanblue.co.jp/momotaro/index.htm

with all the models and whatnot. Confusingly, you need to click on the tiny colored tabs on the righthand side of the page. Bloody flash, thinks it's clever! There are links to measurements...

Okay okay, now you really have me worked up. It looks like 藍着堂 has them in stock at stores in Kobe and Osaka...

http://www.aikidou.com/SHOP/AIKIM-001.html

it just so happens that I will be in Kobe and Osaka, shopping for those Kapitals, maybe swing by an Iron Heart store as well (I'm getting a motorcycle... Iron Hearts look cooler than leathers.) I'll pop in at least to the Kobe store, since I know exactly where it is from the map...

If anyone has a pressing need I can take a camera and have someone take photos of my ass in them. Would that give a better idea of the fit? I'm a noob, I dunno...

Yes, Momotaro Jeans are carried in just over 20 stores in Japan. I have just talked with the guys at Momotaro and they want to create a new model of jean for outside of Japan. this mode will be called "KAIGAI MODEL"(oversea model) I am in charge of relaying a design to them for this model. I am trying to make this jean to be popular with most everyone so I am asking You the denim heads to relay your ideas to me. the denim market is pretty saturated right now, so in terms of a Premium Japanese jean, what cut would you most like to see? I was thinking of a medium rise, straight leg with a slightly slim leg, but not too slim to be a "rocker" jean. Offering this in a raw/unwshed and a one-wash in the Sea of Japan and dried in the sun. any ideas please let me know. thnks

That sounds good, I'd say the Kicking Mule Workshop 1980 is probably the ideal cut for me. Most importantly though, the inseam :P

mvpa01 without the red tab. should be from the vintage line, nothing else.

I think the rise should be at least 0.5" higher, pref. 1".

^^ Hey Cherrydrew,

Yeh im interested and i also agree the denim scene is quite flooded at the moment. I think a med rise raw denim straight leg would be very very nice. Is it possible ot host some detailed pics on photobucket.us of the jeans that you have in stock. What kind of price would you be looking for for a size 32 with a 35 inseam?:D Is that possible? Yes i am aware that i might be repeating as well but i want to say it anyway, sorry ppl :)

I look forward to drooling over these soon,

kindest regards,

Jes

I finally stumbled into the Umeda Aikido store and saw these things for real. My stars and garters, they are pretty. Very soft, smooth material, incredibly vivid color. The model on sale here is what I saw, made especially for the company. Fit me great too!

"What a nice color!" I exlaimed to the snappily-dressed salesdude.

"Yes," he said, and then proceded to BLOW MY MIND! "That's 100% pure, natural indigo. But it will never fade! Never!"

There was a pause as I struggled to work out if I'd understood him.

"Really?" I said, boogling my face up.

"Yes! Not at all!"

"I do not," I said emphatically, "believe you."

He then leapt to produce a most astonishing item from behind the counter... a pair of Momotarou's that he claimed have been worn for SEVEN YEARS. I asked him to confirm this several times, and finally held up fingers just to make sure. Given the incidental wear on the stitching and around the hems, I must believe this to be true. And yet, my friends, NOT A LINE OF FADE. The astonishing indigo, which the website linked to above only gives a pale, ghostly facsimile of, was unchanged!

I'm still trying to work out if this is the greatest thing ever, or slightly silly. I thought fading was half of the point, after all.

Has it ever been mentioned on this thread whether the Momotaro store ships overseas? Because both Klax-on and Saddlemen do not (and to my knowledge, Hinoya doesn't carry the vintage line).

That was a beautiful conversation. IT is true that the "Natural Dyed Indigo" denim Momotaro jeans uses will never fade, in fact it often gets darker with age. This is because the natural indigo penetrates to the core of the cotton, unlike synthetic indigo which only penetrates the first layer of the cotton. the Natural dyed denim jeans are very expensive, unlike their synthetic dyed denim which is more affordable.

As i have said Momotaro Jeans are considered by many to be the best denim in the world. the Trade marked color of "Japan Blue" is amazing.

Please contact me directly if you would like more information on Momotaro Jeans. If you are in Japan please watch NHK program that is airing tonight and this month, It is a documentary on Rampuya and their Momotaro Jeans line, It talks about how they produce this fantastic denim.

Here is the link to the english page

Special Report : Momotaro Jeans by Rampuya

The Kojima district of Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, was the birthplace of Japanese jeans and still makes many top brands today, including Levis. Rampuya jeans are made by traditional dying and weaving techniques that produce a unique feel and their appearance even improves with aging. We find out how it's done.

jeans came in a baggy with a bunch of booklets and stuff explaining momotaro, the indigo they use etc, all in japanese though. Also recieved a free denim cell phone case because of a mix up of orders..

I bought these because:

- the gold series were too expensive, wouldnt fade, and all fit baggy.

- slimmest model momotaro makes to my knowledge (though they fit more along the lines of a regular cut jean)

- 14.7 oz zimbabwe cotton

- long 35 inch pink inseam (also pink selvedge)

- there one wash process involves dipping the jeans in seawater (in fact in the back pocket i found a pebble from the ocean)

- thick saddle leather patch

I could go on and on but the pictures (though crappy) speak for themselves....

jeans were 200, after all the service charges and shipping from parachutes came out to 250 which is very reasonable in my view...fit pics up soon, recovering from a torn acl though, so my legs are two different sizes making the fit of the jeans come out weird........

So 35 inch after a wash? Not bad... I can add them to the list of maybes.

Worn once, rise is too high. $250 CONUS or trade for more Momos- BOM006 ideally but I'd take any 34-36, rise below 11.25in. Also interested in PBJ, Iron Heart, anything. I need contest jeans now that these didn't work out!
