Japan Blue Momotaro

What appears to be their main site

http://www.momotaroujeans.com/

has been down since I first looked when this thread went up. Oddly, found this other official site

http://www.japanblue.co.jp/momotaro/index.htm

with all the models and whatnot.

just to clear up any confusion:

http://www.momotarojeans.com/

the link redirects to http://www.japanblue.co.jp/momotaro/index.htm

i'm going to tokyo soon, so i'll probably check out this brand at hinoya or blue moon. supposedly there's actual rampuya store in nakameguro, but the official site only lists the phone number. i'll have to give them a call and see what's up

FYI - these are now available at collier in portland. i believe they're currently the sole american retailer. quality looked very high, though the denim felt quite light in weight (12oz, tops). two-colored topstitching, painted buttons, printed linen-lined yoke, one-wash. $385, i think.

$385? Ouch. I believe most of their standard stuff is 14oz. I covet a pair of their natural indigo jeans.

More expensive jeans on their online store.. http://www.japanblue.co.jp/denimhouse/

The pricey ones are the natural indigo ones I was mentioning...insanely expensive, but oh so nice. The only thing I don't like about them is that they change the direction of the denim for the backpockets...looks a bit weird.

I could never justify $1500 for jeans though.

i obviously can't measure yard weight myself, but both models i felt seemed much lighter than the ~14oz. jeans i own. not thin and wimpy, mind you - the weave was quite tight - but especially given that these were one wash, i was surprised at how light they felt...

Sorry...I wasn't correcting you or anything...just happened to be checking out their site lately. I sort of like lightweight denim.

Heya, things being a bit slow at the mo with no real interesting discussion about jeans I thought id start a thread about a brand thats being whispered about but doesnt have a thread and could potentially be very interesting with lots to talk about...

Sorry, I dont intend to come across as negative but Momotaro has many interesting jeans that surely have more facets to discuss than APC sizing etc etc

Heres the brands website

http://www.japanblue.co.jp/momotaro/

Personally I like these.....

From the pic, I don't think those are 3x1 twill, I think it's 2x1. And they appear to have overlocked outer seams (no selvedge).

I've seen the 81,000 yen jeans. The colour looks great. The denim is soft like a dish cloth. I prefer crispy stuff - tightly woven.

Yeah john- I think thats discussed earlier in this thread, someone mentioned that a shop owner or someone was wearing some very very old jeans that didnt fade, in fact they are supposed to get darker with wear, I think the ones that dont fade are the 81000yen ones

I think these

http://www.japanblue.co.jp/momotaro/gold/index.htm

G003-A and G003-O and G001-T

and they look to have a kind of gold stitching!

( please, if ive gotten muddled and mixed them up some how please tell me! )

So whats the deal with the ones I posted, is the weft purple? Kinda reminds me of my nikki sixx jeans, - I really want more japanese companys to explore fabrics more, overdye more, mix in different warp sizes, different weft colours etc.... would be cool.

Oh and thanks to the Mod who moved my post, really helpful, ( TIP?) Thanks.

The only ones that I've seen confirmed to not fade are these collabs with Aikido. If you follow the link, you can see they actually get darker. Having a quick read over their site, only their top price model (which is not the 81,900yen G003-A but the astonishingly 178,500yen G000-T) explicitly claims to not fade, but I expect all the top-price Gold Label models are the same way. Since they do sell some washed models in the lower prices, I'm guessing these do fade, although search in Japanese as I might I can't find any examples of this actually having occured. Perhaps Drew is around still?

I'd buy some, but I don't have the cash to be no trail-breaker. Edmooooond!

got mine tailored to a taper, so that it would be a boxy cut up top to a nice taper. didnt work, guy fucked up the selvedge. I dont care. Dont ever flip up my hem. Color is just too nice. Hopefully i can get some wear on these, you can see some wear come through, thats why i went with the second best quality line. Im working solely on my Lee/Levis crazy SDA's at the moment though so my momo's arent gettin the love they deserve.

These jeans are great. The denim is interwoven with red dyed and indigo dyed thread, super soft, non-selvedge, rear pockets are moved to the sided seams and the front pockets rims are lined with pig skin. I've been wearing the GTW103 dry for about 10 months now, thinking about finally washing them. Its amazing how soft they have become. I never go a day without wearing them.... :D

Pigskin!!!

You LIE, snake-tongue!

Good LORD, he lies not! It says so on Hinoya. The model pictured has pigskin pocket reinforcements. (Foaming at mouth)

If pigskin is present, cash must be exchanged for GOODS! Drew, do they ALL have pigskin, or just the Green Earth models?

Just this model A303 (green earth) has the pigskin pockets. Most off all of Japan Blues jeans are a smaller size cut.

The 603 fit is a Lowrise boot cut, the 103 is a medium rise straight leg, and the G004-s is a high rise slim leg. The old 503 fit was the best for non-Japanese buyers, but they stoped making that model.(Working on changing that) If you are intetesed in getting a pair I would suggest the 103 or G004-s as they have the largest rise and fit more true to size.

These Jeans are sickk! i love my momo's!:D

cherrydrew, thanks for your pm. unfortunately i cant pm you back, so i have to reply on here.. do you think you can pm me your email or something? if you didnt want to i can continue to talk on here, that is fine.

did you have a link for draft one denim (if there even is one)? googling did nothing for me. i live in southern california, so i might not even be able to get it from there.

anyways i wasnt talking about a site i was wondering about a fellow forum member's jeans on post 52 http://www.superfuture.com/supertalk/showpost.php?p=603884&postcount=52

im looking for this model, or something unique like it. id definitely need a slim if not skinny cut (currently wearing diors 19cm) so something along those lines would be great. true waist is 28.

thanks for all your help!

you can email [email protected]

The ones you referred to are the G004s, This is a high rise, slim cut. it sits really low in the rear rise. Not around the hips but in the butt. Depending on your build, I would probably recommend the MVPA603, it is a low rise boot-cut. A real cool jean if you are small enough to fit in them... send an email to the address above and you'll get hooked up. If you want something unique that will be it,, I think you would be the first in America to own a pair ofthe MVPA603, and thats pretty cool.
