Whodinihimself Levi's A-type 606

aw look, kids are even cuter in Samurais... :)

some incredible fades recently...

heres my Levis A-type 606'ers....just gave them a warm machine wash at 6 months of moderate wear with Woolite Black (along with numerous soaks before wearing because they were stiff as hell and i didnt know they were resin baked)....the resin baked denim stunts the fading process...but i prefer dark jeans so its not a big deal...i may be selling these if anyone is interested as theyre two sizes too big in the waist for me...pm if you're interested or want more info

a-types2.jpg

a-types1.jpg

edit: btw, the tag size is 32 but the measurements are waist 33, length 31.5" (hemmed) and leg opening 6.25" across....and 606 is the skinniest Levis fit

jeffvyain Samurai S5000VX

went home for break so i stole my momma's camera. unfortunately, it was a little late and getting dark, so the pics aren't perfect, but it was the first time i've had a digital camera to play with in like 3 months, so here it is:

s5000vx since july-ish. washed twice. will get another one soon. size 30 on a 6'1 165ish frame.

update: this is wash #4 including the initial wash to get rid of starch and all that good shit. since july-ish. used a decent amount of detergent this time, as opposed to before when i would just put a dab in. i was eager to get a little bit more color out of these things. color and contrast is pretty spot on. once again, samurai s5000vx

update

hope you guys aren't getting tired of me posting pics of my sams. i just got my new (old) nikon D1H today, and i wanted to test her out. got outside right as the sun was going down. this is now at right about 8 months on the 5000s. Color is pretty much spot on. With this camera taking 5 frames per second, I had a lot to choose from...

15 months. not as much wear as many people who are putting less time in them, but i've been diligently wearing them for this much time and will try to continue on to the 2-year mark if they hold up.

some stank ass dog got in my lap so I gave em what I believe was their 4th wash. More pictures in the Samurai thread.

My very dirty pair of bootcut ola's. These things are sooo slow to show much wear, but also i dont wear them too often. They have stretched quite alot and i am always tempted to wash only because i want them to get back their shape and fit better.

Hope I'm not ODing on pics in this thread, but I thought this was worth posting.

This weekend I went caving with a few of my friends. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing, and I was wearing my PBJs and Nudie Conny. I think it was Airfrog who said "a day in the mine is worth a month on the barstool." After this trip, I'd say that's an understatement.

poly800rock Samurai S5000BK

with the birth of PBJ blacks, here is a very brief (~1 month of solid wear spread over 4 months) document of my samurai blacks. The color is much brighter in the picture than they actually are, it's really hard to get a good pic of these...but these will be nice...so for those torn between PBJ's and these, Samurai's will hold the fort down, but these are on the back burner now...

most representitive color is the ones of the bottom hem and the crotch. They're still very black, but the color really doesn't even fade, it just comes off and shows white. I did a warm soak after i got them chainstitched at BIG a few months ago. Pillow of black dust came up...these will be amazing

update

everyone knows the color of these are impossible to capture correctly. but these do have some serious fading going on....just hot washed and dried them on hot in the dryer w/o any soap last week as they stretched an ungodly amount.

sam113 Atelier La Durance Royal Pant (Context Clothing Experiment)

OK. So some of you may remember from a while back I posted that we at CONTEXT were going to conduct a denim experiment where we gave a pair of jeans to our friend, Don. Don is the head brewer and plant manager at the local brewery and is a metalworker, handyman and builder. We picked him because he is harder on his clothes than anyone we know and he cares nothing about fashion or his personal appearance. So we gave him these jeans and told him to wear them to work every day for one year without washing them. Every Wednesday I take photos of them at the brewery. At the end of the year we will wash them and hang them on the wall at CONTEXT with 52 pictures (one from each week of the experiment) in chronological order and a brief synopsis of the experiment. We had also planned to make a website called donsjeans.com that would have weekly updates, but never found the time. Anyway, Don scoffed at us, insisted they wouldn't last a month, but eventually agreed.

We gave him the Atelier LaDurance Royal Pant on JULY 1.

That is 5.5 months ago.

He has done as we asked and, needless to say, he is ahead of schedule.

These things are FILTHY.

He has developed a hole on the right front thigh from carrying screws in his pocket, so we are going to patch that with the denim from the repair kit that came with the jeans. He will then resume wearing them for the rest of the year.

For reference sake, he bought a pair of Caterpillar boots at Farm & Fleet the same week as he started with the jeans and had to replace them 2 weeks ago.

THEY OUTLASTED A PAIR OF HEAVY DUTY LEATHER WORK BOOTS.

So we patched the holes in Don's ALDs with the strips of denim from the repair kit that comes with each pair. They go back on his ass tomorrow for the remainder of the experiment.

will. Very nice. How long have you been wearing them?

Anyways... Posting ANOTHER update, not too much change, cept the back pocket is blown... Can you SFers guess wat happened this time?

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/stuntastic13/DSC00239.jpg

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/stuntastic13/DSC00234.jpg

Ive been wearing them for a bit over a month. I ride my bike, so they get a lot of friction around the thighs.

I washed them last night, to get some dirt out from last month.

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/stuntastic13/DSC00241-1.jpg

Next to a pair of deadstock Okinawas. (for a little denim experiment ;) )

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/stuntastic13/DSC00242.jpg

Not too much contrast, but they shrank back down, which was wat I was aiming for anyways.

update

Washed my Okinawas again.

Got mad muddy checking up on the denim experiment.

Before.

DSC00593.jpg

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h35/stuntastic13/DSC00595.jpg

I did an hour long hot soak, then a cold wash in the washing machine.

Hot soak to shrink em back (stretched due to riding.) Cold wash to keep em a good size.

After.

Shitty pics.

Not bad for a bit over 2 months, I guess.

Worn since November 2nd. I forgot the first time I washed em. Whatever.

DSC00606.jpg

Very bland... No honeycombs got to really settle in, because Im constantly rolling and unrolling both pant legs for biking.

update

Another update before vacation and a sea water wash for my Okinawas...

They were mad oily from working on my bike this past weekend. The thighs were completely black.

Wore them in the shower then tossed them into the dryer for an hour.

just over 4 months old now.

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f155/jwied82/IMG_3651.jpg

couple holes starting to develop:

right thigh - this one is being caused by the bottom corner of the pocket bag.

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f155/jwied82/IMG_3652.jpg

just below right back pocket - not sure why this one developed, i patched it up with an iron on patch on the inside of the jeans and it hasnt gotten any bigger since.

IMG_3657.jpg

one outdoor pic

IMG_3659.jpg

OK, so these things are really stretched out now, and i ive lost a couple pounds with the weather turning warmer and running more,. so these things are really falling off me now...

any suggestions for getting them back down to size without actually washing/disrupting the fading process. I really like the way they are turning out, but i also really hate having to pull my jeans up constantly at work.

update on my black APCs, at about 6.5 months. One warm hand-wash in the kitchen sink with a small amount of trader joe's store-brand equvalent of dr. bronners and then hung to dry at about 5 months. I wear them only as work jeans. Stretched out like crazy (wish i woulda got a size or 2 smaller!), but still i like them.

p.s. the left back pocket fade is from my MP3 player. Its small and circular (sorta a half sphere shape) and fits perfectly in a back pocket.

TragicBliss Dior Homme Japanese 21cm

Here are pictures of a pair of Dior Homme 21cm Raw Jeans that I've been breaking in just about every day for the last two months. The pictures really don't do these jeans justice. They are this strange dark dark indigo color that just refuses to come out correctly in photographs. I tried my best to give a full range of lighting but I'm still not satisfied.

The fade that's begining to show on these jeans is crazy. Super light indigo is starting to peak through and the denim is becoming streaky.

I'll bump this thread after a few more months. Enjoy... Or whatever.

So it's been another 2 months and I thought I'd update with some more pictures but I'm crazy frustrated that the photos don't show as much detail as the denim truly has. The indigo on the Italian Diors compared to the Japanese is a lot darker, but after a few months of wear this insane vertical striation begins to show through. Direct sunlight does these jeans so much justice. Anyway, I gave up and just decided to post what I could get in a couple shots. Enjoy.
