very stylish with a very good ambiance. slightly confusing at times though.

really liked it except the music sometimes. i had english subtitles over dutch subtitles so it wasn't as pleasing as cinema but still, great movie.

Is there a better Korean director? I love Sangsoo so much. His staging is impeccable and he's funny as hell. Is he actually popular in Korea though?

If I hadn't paid $12 I would have walked out. What a cheap and exploitative film. How was this France's official submission for best foreign film?

no way. that's such an awesome film. the rooster scene is incredible.

speaking of "slow" films though, finally got a chance to see this film in all its glory. 35mm print to boot. I was in the theater from 2pm to 11pm.

Satantango, 1994 (7 hours, 12 minutes + intermissions):

i am not entirely sure what i saw in it, i am a massive fan of jarmusch so i was probably always going to enjoy it.

But I really liked the slow, meandering pace and how it kinda sets itself up in opposition to a conventional Hollywood hitman movie. I also thought the cinematography was pretty spot on.

Would be interested to see what other people thought?

On paper it seems like a movie I would enjoy: slow pace, highly stylised and lots of enigmatic characters. I usually take the "I don't need to work this out, just enjoy it" approach to those kind of movies but Limits of Control seemed to be at an awkward middle ground between decipherable and intentionally indecipherable.

I tried to post this yesterday but then superfuture crashed. Maybe this is a sign?
