My internet was down yesterday so I couldn't post. Here's what I watched yesterday and today.

First up, Hitchcock. Yesterday was a triple feature (fuck, I've been watching too many of these)/

Rebecca, 1940:

I Confess, 1953:

Spellbound, 1945:

Today, another three films. One Hitchcock, one Western and one French:

Suspicion, 1941:

The Naked Spur, 1953. SO GOOD:

Le Deuxieme Souffle, 1966. One of Melville's lesser known films (at least here in the US):

Haven't watched a Wong Kar Wai film I haven't liked/loved.

Just watched "Happy Together" the other day, and though I admit I was cringing uncomfortably the first couple of minutes, I quickly came to enjoy the story and relationship between Tony Leung and Leslie Cheung. I don't care how much they cuddle, both men are too badass irl for me to care.

Per usual, yesterday was a triple feature. I did something different, though, as I just watched all Westerns. Two Budd Boetticher films and one Anthony Mann. aleopold, if you like Justified, you'd love the Boetticher films. He's a big influence on the show.

Anyway, here's what I watched:

The Tall T, 1957. Boetticher:

Ride Lonesome, 1959. Boetticher:

Bend of the River, 1952. Mann:

I might be in the minority, but I prefer Boetticher's Westerns over Mann's. That said, I highly recommend all three.

THE STUFF

on a nostalgia trip

i saw this at least a dozen times when i was a preteen

didn't pick up on how campy (and bad) this flick is

i couldn't look away this time around

it is basically the blob mated with body snatchers

the most interesting thing is that the young protagonist was my age when i first saw this movie

watching it again is like seeing the house you grew up in again

frozen in the early 1980s

THE STUFF

basically ominous yogurt
