Spiraltoy 1,414 Posted October 8, 2018 Anyone tried RoToTo socks? I’m in the market for a pair of thicker cotton socks. I liked Red heel (the sock monkey sock) and my UES socks are nice. I’ve also tried another Japanese sock brand which I found in Tokyo but I can’t remember their name. They had a store close to Shibuya crossing. Thick, nice and cheap. Doesn’t seem to be available in the eu. What’s everyone’s preferences and why?
oomslokop 178,501 Posted October 8, 2018 i can vouch for tender socks. not cheap, but they're great. naturally dyed and the cotton is thick and super nice. also stay in shape forever. https://www.tenderstores.com/product/hand-linked-cotton-socks/
kicks79 23,299 Posted October 9, 2018 I find that Anonymous Ism and Chup tend to fit all my sock needs.
julian-wolf 1,324 Posted October 9, 2018 +5 for Tender socks—1 for each pair in my rotation. Of what I've tried, these are my favorites by far. As to proxy services: Buyee is good if you don't plan to buy more than one item at a time from a given seller. Their option to not pay anything until you've won an auction / finalized a purchase is really convenient, and overall their whole setup seems pretty transparent. They are, however, unable to request that a seller combines shipping for multiple items, even if they're purchased on the same day. Because of this, I've been straying away from them, but haven't yet settled on a permanent alternative.

Chup over anonymosism for me but the sizing can be different between pairs. Rototo are great, like sweatshirts for your feet
Spiraltoy 1,414 Posted October 9, 2018 Oh I just realised that I have a pair of Merz b Schwanen as well. They seem really nice but I’ve just worn them twice so can’t vouch for how they hold up in the long run. Thanks for all the answers so far!
Maynard Friedman 565,192 Posted October 9, 2018 If you’re looking for socks for a ‘long run’ I really think you should visit a specialist sports shop rather than look at fancy boot socks, etc.
JDelage 2,374 Posted October 9, 2018 What are your favorite online stores (selection, information, service) to buy Sugar Cane?
redragon 3,059 Posted October 9, 2018 @JDelage Pants Shop Avenue is definitely one of the best place for anything SugarCane.

mlwdp 1,619 Posted October 9, 2018 Earth Market was my introduction. Best prices IMO for hard to find flannels and one of the few retailers of Indian Motorcycle clothing.

BrownMetallic 600,533 Posted October 13, 2018 Quick question: Re: Boncoura 66 O/W Are they shrink to tagged?! ... and does the denim stretch much? Thanx!
FeloniousMonk 901 Posted October 13, 2018 @BrownMetallic Yes, they do shrink to tagged (or very close). My tag size 32 pair has been worn only a couple days and currently measures 32.5” at the waist. Couldn’t tell you if the denim stretches more easily than normal, but they certainly didn’t strike me as tight / hard-to-stretch.

: ) 20 Posted October 14, 2018 Anyone else have the problem with measuring their best fitting jeans as size 32; but find that with a measuring tape my waist is actually 34-35? Should I be measuring my waist tightly with the measuring tape as fat has some give ;( Does a high rise jean = a smaller waist size compared to a low rise?
JDelage 2,374 Posted October 14, 2018 The rise has a huge impact on the waIst measurement. Very rarely do you have a pair that sits exactly where you measure.
An Oxymoron 235,924 Posted October 14, 2018 Anyone know of a high rise, tapered, stretch fit for men? I recently bought some black stretch jeans from H&M and it's like all I wear now because they're so comfy.

Yes, but why do you need to measure your waist when you have a pair of ”best-fitting” jeans to measure instead?

I plan to purchase a new pair of jeans where the sizing seems a bit odd compared to my usual size. Also the rises on both pairs are different.

: ) 20 Posted October 29, 2018 Do people find themselves incredibly fustrated wearing Japanese denim in hot weather. Especially when the crotch area gets sweaty and tight and you can’t fit your hands into them Momo front pockets.

Sounds like a fit related issue with very little to do with the origin of the denim.

The fit and weight should be weather appropriate. I am living in one of the hottest weather and I am sticking to 12-14 oz pairs and staying away from anything super tight. orchestrion 102 Posted November 1, 2018 Does anyone happen to have recommendations for suspender buttons? I have a pair of LVC 1976 that I sized up a tad on, and after wearing a Halloween costume involving cheap snap-on suspender buttons I’ve realized I much prefer to wear them this way. I was looking for some buttons I could add on myself. I’ve had bad luck with cheapo hammer-on buttons in the past and I thought that sewing some on would likely be the most comfortable.
