Any opinions, experience, links, or anything regarding ONI denim?

The sufu search bar filters the word "ONI" and im not sure why.

@coldsummer: I have your exact bodytype and if I am not wearing higher waisted denim (bomber leather jackets only look good on me with vintage fit denim), the only leather jackets that look good on me are trench coats...

@kelleydenham: I could list a ton of brands within that price range with a Slim Straight cut... You need to ask for something else more specific. Browse around an evo thread to see which end results you like best.

Denime, Warehouse, Flat Head, Samurai and Studio d'Artisan should all have plenty of vintage slim straights, but then again you could find that with Naked and Famous and pay around 200 after tax...

Here you go, the first link will be much easier to use:

http://supertalk.sup...irst-two-posts/

http://supertalk.sup...scones-and-tea/

And since nobody has answered my question yet, I'll assume nobody knows... Can someone apply their Raw Denim Jacket expertise to this question? I assume it's the same thing/very similar.

how do you guys take care of your raw denim shirts? should i just wear layers and try not to sweat in it (to not wash it that often)? or should i just not care, wash it often and get a more vintage fade out of it?

Wash your denim shirt every three or four wears. More often if needed.

Thanks for the advice @poonjo! I had been recommended the Naked and Famous Weird Guy fit. That will probably be what I go with at the moment. Do I need to size down with N&F like you have to with A.P.C?

I have a question for you SuperFashionable people... I got tired of wearing Nudie jeans so I'm looking for another brand to jump on. Upon browsing the interwebz I found a brand called Superfine (welp, safety search off = nipples errwhere). I was wondering if anyone could tell me if Superfines are worth buying or not. Are they really Super :D? I Googled the brand, but I just get a bunch of herp derp about Kate Moss and Rihanna wearing 'em.

@setterham: Sounds good, thanks. I'll try to hold off the first wash for as long as I can (wearing undershirts and such) but the last few wears might be for work/longboarding if I can't really wear it in public haha.

@kelleydenham: Naked and Famous Weird Guy is a tapered fit (think carrots). WG is the fit that has the most fabric options and most of the collabs are WGs too.

I was able to go down 2 sizes (!) for Weird Guys, but I'm really skinny. Most people go down a size and a half depending on the denim. They are generous around the waist plus they can always stretch out a bit and you do NOT want to get a saggy ass with tapered denim... Check out www.tateandyoko.com

They have everything that Naked and Famous carries at the moment, They also have measurements although you're better off e-mailing them to ask them exactly how you should size. (Alex from Tate and Yoko will answer all of that very quickly).

@iwishiwasadino: I have never really heard of superfine (had to google it) but I don't think they make Raw Denim (or THAT much...)

I mean, I love being exclusive and all, but I would rather get a tried, tested, a true pair of Raw Denim than a random brand. If you want a more boutique-y denim there ARE a few brands that are known for their quality (not known for who wears them) but that are very exclusive (I'm sure Mr. Christopher Brown from Brown, Deim could make you a custom pair, you would just have to give him your measurements)

I will assume you are a woman, since I could not really find Superfine's collection for men.

You might have to read around, or you could just post exactly what you are looking for in your pair of raw denim, and then people will help you find it.

:( I'm a guy.

Uhh, I don't really want raw denim cause... uh, I'm impatient. I like slim fitting jeans, but I'm too poor to afford the designer labels like Dior and the other expensive brands.

Also, who is Christopher Brown? I like the idea of custom jeans cause then I'd be all hipster and unique, but it sounds pricey. I took a look at that women section and I liked the very first pair lol, Skull jeans or whatever. Kind of makes me want to crossdress... derp.

Are there any brands you can suggest that offer good quality straight cut jeans (that are slim though, kind of hard to explain).

Any suggestions on a nice pair of raws that are wide in the thighs but fairly narrow (approx 8') in the hems?

Thanks!

@dino: Sorry, you were just looking at a women's line of clothing so I assumed...

Well, I don't know nearly as much about the world of washed denim... The only ones I buy are Guess since they last me for SO long and they have unique washes and materials. They should have a few skinnies, but you're either looking for Tapered fit (think carrot) or their traditional Slim Straight... Just walk around a mall somewhere in your area and try a bunch of jeans on, that's the best advice I can offer...

Christopher Brown is the... Well, everything behind Brown, Deim. Amazing man. Amazing hand made raw denim, but you aren't looking for raw...(skull jeans are raw, btw, but they should have men's denim too)

@crat: Depending on your waist size, Naked and Famous's Weird Guy fit sound perfect for you. You could also check Unbranded for some cheaper denim (they have tapered fits too) but Naked and Famous has a huge selection with a few collaborations (more coming). Their new collection is coming out soon too btw. For my size, the leg opening is actually smaller than 8'', but if you're 36-38 waist it'll be around 8.5 or so.

www.tateandyoko.com

Use the search tool, write ''weird guy''. Click on the style you like and check the measurements.

can anyone help please?

alright people, a question that has been bothering me in my search for new jeans..might seem a little dumb, but here it goes

how much difference in measurement in a part of a jeans actually makes a visual difference, or changes the feel and fit of the jean?

eg: in the waist a 10" measurement versus a 10.5" or in the leg opening, 6.5" versus 6.75" or even 7"?

I ask because I'm looking for skinny jeans, but the lengths are too long so I need to hem, the leg opening will be different since i'm looking at jeans that have taper...

thanks!

I'll try to answer your question.

Everything thing makes a difference. An inch or a half an inch here or there can change the look and feel of any jeans.

I suggest taking some safety pins and a pair of jeans you own. take measurements and mark any changes with the safety pin to get a feel for differences.

For example:

You have jeans with a 8" leg opening.

measure across that opening, fold and "pin" the jeans at 7.5"

Now put em on and see how they look/feel with a 7.5" leg opening

I use this just to get general ideas about fits

Tailors/ seamstresses can do this for you to if you are wanting to do alterations.

I don't know if others agree with this but I know you wanted an answer, so that's my opinion at least.

Yes I thank you I appreciate it, had to post twice... It sucks that I cannot try on jeans before buying online and I have to go strictly by on the paper measurements.

I would try this method, it's just that I am looking for a little looser fit than what I have now. Can't add on measurements like I can lessen it using your method.

Would you guys say .25" - .5" matters? I'm concerned about the thigh and leg opening. The jeans I'm looking at would be ~.5" bigger than my current in the thighs. Leg opening might be .25" bigger also.

As detailed here (http://supertalk.superfuture.com/index.php?/topic/47647-samurai-jeans/page__st__17070#entry2785535) it's been a while since I last got a pair of jeans. Started putting on muscle again, recently and the jeans that I did have, no longer fit me at all, again. To be honest, I've been out of the whole dry jeans malarkey for so long, I'm pretty much green again.

Currently measure at about 6'00", 188lbs, 33" natural waist, 36" lower-waist/upper-hips (where I'd wear my jeans), ~26.75" upper thighs, ~19" lower thighs. 15" calves, 33" inseam, 39-40" outseam.

Would love to get jeans that fit similarly to my old Samurai S5000VXs or the SExSuFuxDB09 collab jeans (click), so quite slim; if I was skinnier, I'd probably be looking at something like FH310, 3001s (at least below the knee), but I know I'm not going to fit into something like that with my current measurements.

I guess there's also the option of sizing up on something like the FH jeans I mentioned, but they're only a rough guide for the aesthetic I'd prefer, so I'm open to suggestions. Preferably with a button fly. Companies that still use the Levi's-esque acurate and red tabs would be another bonus. I was also looking at (and will probably get in the future anyway) some Samurai 0500XXs, and that's probably as relaxed as I'd like to go at this moment in time.

Any help or suggestions would be great. Not too rigid with what I'd prefer as long as they have a mid-rise, can accommodate larger thighs and probably a bit extra (though I could always size up) and be tapered slightly to give a slim/straight-slim fit. Weight of denim isn't a huge deal as long as I my skin can breathe. Cost-wise, something in the Samurai price range, so around £200 (~$300)ish.

Hmm... I measured the hem of my jeans, one is 0.60inches/1.5cm (not quite 0.5 inches, but close) smaller than the other and I looked at myself in the mirror and there's a big difference. Maybe it's cause I compared a skinny cut with a slim-fit lol. Still, I could see the difference, especially since my mirror is super flat unlike those vanity-ish mirrors you see in stores.

When shopping online, I think it's safer to buy something that's loose... cause you can always get them altered :D. I buy all my crap online since I'm in Canadia lolol.

@tabris: after thinking a bit more anout it, maybe a Fullcount 1101 might fit you. BiG has them although I'm not sure if you can get them with arcs&tabs from there

^ To my eye, a quarter of an inch difference hem mostly only matters online. On sufu we can see the difference because we have so many reference points, but in person it would be hard to tell.

A half inch difference can be seen more readily, imo, depending on footwear. A half inch is noticable over a pair of Chucks, but not so much over a pair of boots.

As far as the thigh, I wouldn't sweat up to .5" unless you wear a really small size.

I think this also applies more as sizes get larger. If you wear a size 29 then +/- .25" hem matters a lot more than if you wear a 38".

I do wear a small size :\

tagged 25 APC is an actual 27 waist.

The thing is the thigh area stretched a little. So do I want to buy new jeans snug and have them stretch, or buy them looser and hopefully it isn't too loose?

my APC stretched to a 10", the new jeans I'm considering is going to shrink after washing to a 10.5" Is that a big noticable difference being that I'm that skinny?

So i need some quick help guys. I have a pair of PBJ that are the perfect for me pre-soak/shrinkage, aside from the waist and inseam.

Will a cold soak solve my issues with the waist and inseam without shrinking the rest by too much?

hey sufu...just wondering what effect humidity has on raw denim? for example if your jeans were

worn somewhere with greater humidity like taiwan would it cause the denim to fade faster since you're

moving around in them while sweating more?

One more question..

How often do world tours come around for denim? I never knew what they were until I read through a few threads.

I'd b interested in participating.

View Advert Oni X Tanuki 20 oz Secret Denim Ultra Slim One Wash
Tagged 32 but I'd recommend for someone who usually wears a 30 unless you got some serious twig legs.
Purchased brand new from Denimio + hemmed, they were tight as heck on my thighs. Just tried on, then went back into the packaging. Can't return since these were hemmed. My loss, your gain.
Fabric is definitely Oni's, extremely hairy and should break in nicely. 20 oz but surprisingly feels lighter and rougher than my other 20oz secret denim, almost like a 16-17 oz. Blue and red selvedge ID, and co branded. No arcs.
Chainstitch hemmed from original length, 4 cm off
      Measurements:
      Waist: 42 cm / 16.5 inch
      Front rise 24.5 cm / 9.6 inch
      Thigh: 28 cm / 11 inch
      Hem: 16.5 cm / 6.5 inch
      Inseam: 80 cm / 31.5 inch
Note that these are one wash, minimal to no shrinking is expected but I'd suspect the denim would loosen up a bit after breaking in going by my other oni denims. Price includes shipping from Australia and PayPal fees.

As the current DWC has drawn to a close there have been the inevitable questions from all over the cyberspace, which I occupy, as to whether there will be another contest for 2017 – 2019. Today I am pleased to make the announcement that there will be, and confirm a few details about what to expect.

The theme of the latest DWC will be “back to basics”, meaning we’re going to scrap everything from the previous contests and make this one as accessible to everyone as it possibly can be, this means…

Any brand or style of jeans can enter. There will be no weight categories, just one contest fits all. All entered jeans must have only 30 wears or less on day 1 of the contest. Speaking of day 1, the contest will begin on 01/11/17 and run for the standard 24 months to 01/11/19. The contest will be purely forum based, on both Superfuture and the Iron Heart forum only. Registration is open now, and will close 31/10/17. Registration fee for the contest will be a flat $20, payable via Paypal to denimworldchampionship@gmail.com . Upon registration you will be issued an entry number to validate your participation. The entry fee will be used to purchase prizes from our favourite brands and retailers for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Prizes will be announced as soon as possible after registration is complete. Once again we have something quite special planned with our friends at Iron Heart for contest jeans. Our judging panel is currently TBD.
So that is all for now, we’re looking forward to setting off on another denim journey with you all again soon.

      Regards,

      Mega
