New to Superdenim?

ive been working on the SEO of the site.

its just taking time. working on the promotions too. well see how it pans out..im only one person and your only a small portion of the critics at the time being

Only a small portion of the critics? Too bad - maybe the site would be better if there were more critics.

There are some things you need to know about promotions and SEO. Quick and dirty is that you don't optimize your search engine results without updating your content, and your google ranking won't go up until people link to you. Why would they link to you, if you go for months without offering anything new. You're wasting your time if you're fucking around and coding keywords in the backend of this site. Plus, don't you want your content to be the best shit possible, before rolling it out and asking the world to come see it?

If you really want to make raw selvage special, don't pay attention to promotion until the site is worth it. So what, you're the only guy working on it, that makes it even more important to have your priorities straight. Don't waste your time promoting the site, only for people to come to it, see inane references to "the starbucks of pants", "Bonks adventure", or "the pinnacle of a young boy's career", start to laugh, leave, and never come back.

Even if all that useless info doesn't deter repeat visitors, the fact that you haven't added new pictures since October 12th might.

Anyways, you're welcome for the advice. Now I expect consultancy fees once you plaster AdSense everywhere and start making your penny per month.

In conclusion, if you're new to denim, don't go to Raw Selvedge.

Instead, open Geowu's glossary in a new window and go about doing your shit.

ive started investing:

my collection so far:

nudie baggy bjorn but a size down from what i normally wear so they are relatively well fitted

diesel

evisu

YouMustCreate selvedge

and a Lee 101z which are a slim fitting jean but ive got them a size up.waist too big, but the thighs are bum are bang on

so the morall of the story is try before you buy.

an aside, will people in 100 years time have denim/trainers collections that are sold at sotherbys for a million pounds like a collection of olde whisky, or rare stamps or time pieces?

IMO you shouldnt start with 5 different pairs of jeans. Start off with 2 nice pairs and wear the nicest pair really hard for 5-6 months, then wash them and take in the other pair and cycle around between these two.

Yep, just what you were all hoping for...another friggin' noob. ;)

I'm a friend of Kiya's from his other life as a yo-yo ninja/pimp/gangsta, and he's gotten me all riled up about denim.

Been lurking here for a month or two, just trying to figure things out before I jump in headfirst. Still reading through the Encyclopedia thread (may I be excused? my brain is full.) and trying to get my bearings with all the new info and terminology.

So, yeah. I'll be around. But I'm going to do my best to keep my big trap shut until I know what I'm talking about. ;)

Cheers,

Steve

Well, it's official. I'm in.

In a pair of Flat Head 3001s. Slightly damp. Gave them an hour in lukewarm water, an hour laying flat, and put 'em on damp.

I am now wearing what appears to be damp sandpaper. Great googly moogly.

Thanks Kiya. :)

I'm also new here .. came across from the other sf. Thought my pair of sjdb would be enough raw denim, but seeing as ill be at uni for one more session; i've decided to get a pair of imperial dukes as soon as they release the new smaller pocket model.

I dont know much so i dont post much; but i hang around a bit to read and learn.

Ah, one little corner of sf that's still friendly. As fast as y'all noobies are rushing the floodgates... I, for one, welcome our new superdenim noob overlords.

Now be off children. Sleep in your denim, stain your mother's couch, make happy crotch fades, and post pictures... especially your FH3001's.

How do you like your Flat Heads? I have a pair of Iron Hearts and they're really amazing and heavy @ 21 oz. Yes--- you have the markings or a denimhead. Welcome!

Well from one Noob to another do check out the Encyclopedia Thread, a lot to read and absorb. Anything else I would put int he Small questions thread, hopefully somebody will answer you.

Yeah once u go Raw u don't go back. I got my first pair of Nudies about 6 months ago, been breaking them in ever since. Then I heard about this site and thats where the Japanese Raw denim thing kicked in. Since then I've got rid of my old jeans and a pair of Onis and Flatheads coming. Best of luck.

Hallo, I'm new too. I've been posting a little on the boards for a week and bought my first dry jeans from Kiya (slim kims) to try out. I've been wearing them for almost a week now and they're still a bit tight in the waist, but I'm loving this wearing-the-same-pair-of-jeans-every-day thing! It takes the stress of, "What should I wear today?" out.

I'm obsessed with Skull Lindas now, so I might have to snag one of those up when the new ones come out.

It's funny. I was one of those, "What? They're just jeans. It's silly to spend so much on them" people but ever since I started lurking the boards, I've started to become addicted to jean porn.

Mick, don't wait for the smaller pocket model. Get to [another"] now! Get a pair of dukes now, get another pair in a different colour later (with smaller back pockets).

You've got to own a pair of Imperials if you're Australian. :P

And oh, i'm from SneakerFreaker too.

I also just registered last night, but I have been lurking SuFu for about a month when I was looking for places in Paris to purchase April77s. I was immediately taken aback by the sheer knowledge, interest-- to the point of wonderful obsession --over denim. I love it! You all had me at 'Encyclopedia'. :P I've been slowly, but surely, making my way through the whole thing and am ready to sell the majority of my shoddy jeans "collection" to invest in APCs first (hopefully from another SuFu member) them maybe graduate (as in save money and find exactly what i want) to Japanese denim.

I mean the only things I'll keep around are my two pairs of JBrand 12'' (Aged [first pair of jeans over 60$ got them in Oct06] and Gingerbread washes), April77 (Joey Overdrive), CheapMonday (Tight OD Black), MissSixty (NewTommy Bootleg), and a pair of the tightest skinnies I have from UrbanOutfitters' house brand (Lux 10'' or 9.5'' opening Overdye Black).

And where are all of the other lady n00bs at? :D

I've tried the dukes in raw black on before at Another (cool shop), but the pockets are just too big for me. I'll be getting a pair in indigo the day the new one comes out.
