Self Edge, SF/NY/LA/PDX - updates & info

Recommended Posts

Hey Kiya, just wondering if you’ve ever talked with sugar cane about developing a denim jacket w/ handwarmer pockets? I know you’ve had them modify length, so just wondering if this would ever be a possibility. A type 3 in the 12oz denim would be amazing.

Sugar Cane have no plans to develop a denim jacket with hand pockets, but hopefully they decide to do on in the near future.

For the time being we're doing multiple denim jackets with Iron Heart with hand pockets, and even some lighter weight ones in 14oz denim.

Stevenson Overall Co's Summer Collection!

This new summer collection from Stevenson is quite impressive.

First off we have some beautiful high-gauge cotton knit shirts; these feel so good on and the colors are just right.

For the new collection Stevenson has done a new version of their thermal short sleeve henley shirts, this time with a woven in stripe, available in indigo or black.

We also have a new flannel shirt with an interesting use of two slightly different patterns on the same shirt, type II jackets in ivory selvedge denim, Tanguis cotton boxer briefs in a new charcoal color, and a full restock of jeans, tees, and sweaters.

All these items are available now at all of our stores.

That's pretty cool, also in Austin?

Remember a year or two ago when i was in Austin we were at a bar and there were 3 of 4 of us with the same wallet, pretty geeky, but fun.

Yup, he was from NYC and had the all murdered out black version. Also said he did some photography for Grailed featuring Good Art after he noticed my Model 10.

I do remember that, kinda corny but probably the only time three of those wallets have been in one place outside of your stores.
You guys need to come back through Austin, been too long! Probably doesn't compare to anything in Mexico but we have a pretty cool Mezcaleria I need to take you to.

Pure Blue Japan Natural Indigo Hank-Dyed Jeans & Yarn Dyed Tees

We have two very impressive releases this week from Pure Blue Japan.

First up we have their new 17.5oz natural indigo hank-dyed denim jean.  The denim on these is just unreal and they've managed to produce one of the heaviest weights of denim we've seen using the natural indigo hank dying method of creating the warp yarns.  These come in a slim tapered fit and are available now in limited numbers.

We've also received the newest version of their indigo yarn-dyed t-shirts.  These made of a long staple cotton and have a nice soft hand to them and are great for the summer months.

Both of these items are available now at our stores and online.

Had amazing service at the Portland Self Edge store.  I think his name was Jonathan.  I walked in only planning on buying a shirt but I was also kind of looking for some chinos.  After feeling the 14oz black black PBJ denim they felt super soft.  They didnt have my size in store but the dude and I figured out my size with other xx-019 cuts and I ordered them online.  They are amazing.

Flat Head Summer Shirts, The Return Of The THC T-Shirt, & More

We've got some super hot things from Flat Head this week.   These new "Cylob Meets The Comets" shirts remind us why Flat Head is at the top of the list when it comes to brands which develop amazing fabrics.  These are available in black and red, and feel as amazing as they look.

We've also received an awesome chainstitch embroidered shirt with a "Flat Head" stitch on the chest and much more intricate design on the back of the shirt, this one is a real winner.

Years ago we had these t-shirts from Flat Head which we could barely keep in stock.  They were special, a little more went into them than even the nicest tee we'd seen.  The fabric was a beautiful loopwheeled cotton, the fit was perfect, the neck ribbing was narrow, and the collar was triple-stitched with a contrast stitch.  We're happy to say that Flat Head has started to produce these again and they now are made in one size larger than before.  These are available now in black or white.

We've also received a new run of their steel buckle belts.  They had stopped making these for a couple of years but have started back up and we're thankful they did.

Lastly we've got a full restock of the SE05BSP slim tapered jean made of Flat Head's famed 3xxx denim.  This fabric ages very well over time, and is regarded to be the gold standard of a high contrast fading jean.

Can anyone comment on how a Flat Head button up, size large, compares to an Iron Heart button up, size large? The SE measurements look like I could do it, but I feel like FH is cut small.

^ I fit an XL in IH workshirts (with more room in the body than I like) or a 44 in TFH workshirts (with just a little extra room in the shoulders). In general, folks seem to find the bodies of TFH shirts to run slim and the shoulders of IH shirts to run slim. They're very different cuts: personally, TFH works well for me but IH does not.

edit: For what it's worth, this is in reference only to their flannel workshirts. I haven't tried any of Iron Heart's other tops.

Depends which one you're looking at. The sizing has been adjusted for the newer shirts this year so if it's one of the newer spring/summer ones, a large could work. The cut is still on the slim side but not really any slimmer than you'd expect from a western.
