Do you know what method is used on the leather patch to make the print?

And what kind of leather? It seems it doesn't shrink much when it meets water.

Hi, noob question here....i just got a pair of jeans and wanna treat my leather patch before soaking....i have some lexol leather conditioner and some meltonian shoe cream...which one should i use? Or should i use both? Thank you for your time.
