Dont think we have a vintage thread ?? I know there is a vintage denim thread but I thought this could be more general thread to post your vintage collection 

I'm sure you've all seen the most of my stuff before and it's almost all denim but best to start the thread with a few pics 

 

So a list of the stuff

Lee toddler jeans from late 60's early 70's 

Lee ( Leesure wear by lee ) cinch back trousers , think there are early 60's ?? Earliest mention of leesure I can find is from 1962 

40's army/navy barracks bag ( pretty sure 40's anyway ) 

60's / 70's store brand kids trainers

Not gonna force my opinion on anyone mate , if you( whoever ) deems the piece vintage then go ahead ....... but the first user to post some kappa snap bottoms should be forever shunned by the community

Well l think vintage is (or at least was) an item more than 20 years old, so that basically means last century stuff l'm guessing?

but yes: juicy couture velour track is also vintage... as our parents and grandparent will tell you; it is strange when the yoof of today wear the clothes of yr own yoof and present it as vintage... so dressing as Xander from Buffy is my possible new vintage aim... [but I think the sandlot-core talk has been dun already...]

Ha... a few of my students (the hip, 15-y.o. retro ones) used to swear I was Giles. Now that I'm older than I ever seriously thought I was going to be, I don't mind that.

I’ve been moonlighting as a vintage collector and reseller for about five years, and outside of Japanese repros I pretty much stick to 70s and 80s vintage for my own wardrobe. My partner of three years is a full time vintage reseller and pretty much all of these items have come from digging around in goodwill outlet “bins” and small town garage sales. A bunch of my salable things are in storage as I’m preparing to move, but here are a few mainly winter favourites from my own collection.

Early 70s Lee Rider in an amazing shade of brown, next to a late 70s levis sherpa..

 

70s Rocky Mountain Featherbed I found dead stock at an estate sale next to my dad’s hand me down LL Bean A2 he bought new in 1978.

Couple of military garments - all except the jacket I’m preparing to sell at some point as I just don’t wear them. I’m not too well versed in military vintage but it crops up at the bins pretty often.

As I understand these are both Australian military trousers; I love the adjustable buttons and straps at the cuffs, it probably had some practical use at the time but it just makes for a bunch of different fun silhouettes now.

And some more... believe these are French or Swiss from 40s-50s.

Here are some more fun items- the jacket on the left is pure silk and is one of the coolest garments I’ve ever found. I hand washed it daily for almost a month when I found it at the bins as it was all stiff and yellowed and stank from decades of cigarette smoke. There are a few times shopping in that environment when you just know something either really old or really disgusting is in one of the bins nearby, as the smell usually travels several feet on either side. My partner has found used syringes, diapers and bottles of unidentified liquid in the bottoms of bins before. Sometimes you get lucky and it’s actually a piece of clothing, lol!

This Lee denim suit I believe is from 1972, so very on trend. I tried it on as a joke at a vintage shop probably 10 years ago and was shocked to see it fit me like it was custom tailored. I’m holding on to it for when my friends (or I) start getting married

Couple of pairs of overalls which I’ve started wearing thanks to @bartlebyyphonics! 60s JC Penney Big Mac and 80s Dickies wabash:

 

Some 60s wool flannels, I used to know what the one on the left was but the tag is long gone; the right one is by a brand called Woolverine, I love the tag:

Finally, a few of my tees. The Daytona one I don’t really wear in public but also can’t bring myself to sell, it has a strange power... the ozzfest shirt is a classic of course, and my partner and I found matching jethro tull shirts online after going to see Ian Anderson play the start of his 50th anniversary tour in Barcelona right before quarantine.

@Flash good shout on starting the thread... some interesting looking items above too

If vintage is 20+ years then that brings in some of the earlier repros too e.g. early LVC, Canes etc

Would be interested in where those in the UK hunt for vintage treasures beyond the more well known places

Sheff has quite a vibrant vintage scene.. this place is on the row of shops near our house JoJo's General Store

when it comes to the big 3. Wrangler is where my heart lies. 
it probably goes back to watching my grandfather starch his wranglers each morning before working the farm.

nice: UK charity/thrift stores are pretty rinsed out for last few years; good to know gems can still be found where you are...

true overall inspiration comes from this 1915 pic that @buler put up in the denimbro workwear picture thread: double/apron overalls and higher trousers than even god imagined...

 

plus I don't think the second pair you have is Wabash, methinx they are hickory stripe? Wabash thread for reference here

I’d have to dig it out of storage and measure it, but 34 iirc. Not sure what happened to the patch but I have a story that will make some of you shed a tear..

My grand parents handed down some very old clothing to me about a decade ago. This jacket and some 501s were the most notable. I asked them to let me know if anything else were to turn up and my grandmother said something along the lines of

“we threw most of it out/donated it. they were stained or had holes in them, and the leather patches cracked in half when we touched them. we washed them before donating them and they looked worse after. you wouldn’t have wanted them”

I bring it up to them here and there to get more clues. All I have found out is the clothes that were tossed out were older than that jacket (as they were their parents), some were jeans, jean jackets, and “formal wear” (church attire)

Shame @scooby but at least you have the jeans and jacket, with a family attachment and an interesting (if somewhat sad and brief) story of some much older, possibly even cooler stuff. Cheers for sharing.

I do not have much vintage at all, but I think this is kind of unique so I thought I would share it. It's an old Swedish M-59 jacket from what I think is the 60s or 70s, but I could be wrong. It was modified by a defunct store in England.

i have a completely deadstock US army desert night camo fishtail parka from the gulf war, complete with the button-in quilted liner. you can get them pretty easily online, but they're usually worn and/or missing the liner. i love it, even if the medium is huge on my 6'1/80kg frame. supreme did a version with a massive and obnoxious 'riot' logo on the back a few years ago.

I’ll see what I can do, does anyone have a clue, when denim jeans were first being creased? When did the whole- creasing of pants even start? I’ve never looked into it.
