WAYWT 2021 [denim edition]

Edit:  this should have been in the EVO thread.

Apologies.

Sedgefield "Do nothing" 14oz. 100% cotton denim jeans. Not much info on these around but...In the 1970s Blue Bell/Wrangler revived the old Sedgefield label to market a higher end product that could be sold at retailers that didn't typically carry Wrangler products and to try to take a bigger chunk out of Levi's dominance of the youth market. The tag line "Eat Prunes, dont wear them" was clearly aimed at Levi's tendancy to shrink. Probably used polyester thread to avoid puckered seams. Blue Bell inc. produced jeans under this division from about 1973 to 1984 when it was dissolved after the early 1980's denim boom ended.

This pair used the same heavy 14oz broken twill denim as Wrangler but had a more fashionable fit and branding and would have been sold alongside Levi's and other fashion brands at "fine retailers"

. I love the extra fat belt loops and the unique non 42 Talon zipper. An odd pair for sure. If anyone has any other information please share. Info is scarce.

Maybe scoobs..
I had lined up those RRR's but they're still a bit snug and i'm still 12st. I expected to be back down to my usual 11.5 once lockdown/xmas was over but no
Ive never done what i would consider 'exercise' in my entire life, just living an active outdoor lifestyle has always been enough, even tho i'm cycling and such, it's mainly for the joy rather than the fitness.
I either need to step things up or come to terms with the fact that i'm closer to 50 than 40 and maybe 12st is the new norm for me... if that's the case i might have to move those RRR's i'll give it a few more months but in the meantime..  if anyone wants to get their name down for a piece of Japanese repro history give me a holla.

When you've done with the Ikea bag, it can be re-purposed

I also read recently that one would need to re-use a cotton tote between 400 and 1000 times for it to have the same environmental impact as using a plastic bag 3 times.. organic cotton has a lower yield and requires 30% more water... so 20,000 times

U'Oh!

Even replacing the single use plastic bag with a 'bag for life' has utterly failed and just replaced one problem with another... obviously they're a lot thicker so shops need to be handing out a lot less bags to reduce the volume of plastic entering the environment but Green Peace survey suggests the opposite, in 2019 the top 10 UK grocery stores reported selling 1.5 billion bags for life which equates to 54/household/year, the same survey reported 959 million in 2018, so we've just reverted to using the same amount of re-usable bags as we did single use, Iceland alone sold 10x more bags for life this year than they did last.. We're fucked!

I use the same two at work till they're trashed, take them back to Tesco and they replace them free of charge, they fill the old bags with kittens and throw them in the canal

At home i'm a outrageous tote snob unless i'm shopping on the bike of fetching fish n' chips in which case i use my 25yr old Lowe Alpine fell pack.
