[EDIT] I've also written down in strikethrough characters the member who've already said they're out.
I'm sorry to see not everyone's happy, I hope this won't f**k up the general good mood we've been enjoying on this thread so far.

Been watching the last few pages...

That's what I don’t like about big contests - big drama.

People that can’t accept uncertainty or can’t afford to make mistakes should refrain from participating in contests of new cuts & denims!

I understand there’s money involved, but if money’s tight don’t throw it at something that has not been done before - chances are no matter how much you try to outsmart a proposed size chart you’ll end up only fooling yourself...

Good thing is most people will take it as a “controlled” gamble and try to make it work.

Mine hasn’t arrived, yet - they made it from Paris to Cologne overnight.

Well that’s a slightly arrogant post... why did u join if u don’t like big contests then?

personally I can handle the gamble and I’m used to it after 15+ years. The most annoying part is that I might not get to wear this beautiful pair of jeans as much as I would have liked. Worst case scenario it’s another pair for the collection.  But please don’t go talk to me about variables for new denim and cuts. New denim is always a gamble but raw denim is raw denim, if u cut it to 32” it’s not gonna be 33”, variables come into play after shrinkage... and a WW2 or 1944 cut isn’t exactly new either is it

that being said. It is important to try and stay positive in these situations and I’m pretty sure the big number of participants is a plus. Surely if we all work together a lot of people can get a better fitting pair through trades or something...

on another note, I did contact Ryo and he told me if any other customers want a size exchange or cancel their order, he would try and get me a size exchange. If possible that is since there are no left over pairs at this moment.

This is what made me realise that 34 was going to be a tight fit, I am normally 33 in other makes and went for 36.

36 is loose on me but that the fit i wanted.

Getting jeans to fit how you like is like chasing the holy grail. image.thumb.png.9dd2f108cea556f7e0bc24c9c8adf34e.png

Yeah, in effect we had a choice as to whether we went with the measurements or the completely incongruous model fits. You made the right choice!

Yeah, let's not let it do that. Totally understand those who don't want to keep with it, that's fair enough, but we'll still end up with a good contest I reckon, after swaps and stretches. And I'm in as long as I can get them on.

(nervously) looking forward very much to them arriving - I was on edge of 33 so :unsure2:...

Though some peoples seem really oddly wrong and on whole they must run smaller but I reckon some of the differences probably due to how everyone measures - esp thigh say..

Don't the pocket bags give it something different though -  and thanks to people who posted fit pics  - they all look pretty good:biggrin:

GIF time Volvo!?

So what's the numbers on inseam shrinkage after soaking? I'm loathe tho hot soak mine prior to having a better understanding of the shrink. I was hoping for a 4" shrink. If they're only coming up 2" I'm tempted to get them hemmed prior to soaking to get the roping I enjoy so much on my 20s.

They shrunk quiet a bit in length but I never get my jeans hemmed for some reason, I really like the way the a lot of Japanese wear them.

Here's a comparison between my 2019 LVC 44s (36x32) and my tcb 38

coincidence that I got one pocket like my LVC pocket

Also some T back goodness on the 44 OW jacketIMG_5444.thumb.JPG.58234e89978995f6fcba40a3ad67e398.JPGIMG_5445.thumb.JPG.25428be18766e8353f4831b86b37a471.JPG

fit comparison 44 TCB OW vs LVC Valencia st 44 type 2. (From 96 iirc)

This is the same thing that happened with my Iron Hearts (888-NT). They arrived smaller than the charts and I couldn't wear them. I put them in the back of my closet as a goal, and FWIW, I'm wearing them as I type this. The TCBs waist size, which is what I worry about most, appears to be very similar to the IHs, and I ordered the same size (the IH were not OW but I followed that IH guide to "set the stitching" that included a hot wash}. So I'm not too worried yet. It is, however, going to be 94F/34C here today so these IH won't be on for long.

Quite a lot like four inches? Or quite a lot like two inches? I'm hoping the former, with associated leg twist.

So Ryo's reply to lefty said a OW size 33 measures 32.28in. I can work with that.

My memorable sizing screw-up for comps was the Warehouse x BiG 660. Purchased a size way too big based on the thigh measurement (BiG 'style' measuring isn't the common way). Couldn't make the waist work, even with a belt. Tried to have the waistband shortened by this 'denim guru' in Manly (big mistake) and ended up selling that Frankenstein pair for $50. I'm usually gunshy about sizing up because of that, and I usually size down.

That being said, I actually sized up on this pair and the jacket. If it's a little smaller than the measurements, it might work out, but we'll see.

my raw pair feels smaller than expected.  I originally ordered a 36 and emailed Ryo and changed to 34 based on the chart (on P1 of the thread) and because I thought the 1946 cut would be full and did not want an oversized pair -- if I were to order again I would order the 36.

These fit just about perfectly now in the raw condition but they will be way too small if they go through the washer and dryer, esp if there is a 2" shrinkage in the waist.

Going to wear them like this initially then only soak from then on -- hope they loosen up a bit with wear then stretch back to here after any contact with water.

Back in the day,  I used to size down a lot,  so  I’m used to making lemonade out of ... :blush2:

If you’re willing to see your “waist situation” through, my advice is:
1) Rigid: find a hanger or stick that measures the waist of your rigid pair & jack it up against the waistband before soaking.

2) O/W:  wet the top block;  unbutton;  slowly stretch the waistband by hand.  Do it by section, so u don’t accidentally rip anything. Button up & repeat 1)

Keep the routine on the first few soaks until denim softens up & become more pliant from wear.

Edit:  I know this is common knowledge for a lot of you ... just thought I’d share:biggrin:

For any other Husky folks out there.

 38's Raw

waist 48cm measured across the top, seam to seam

rise from top of waistband to crotch seam 37cm

outseam 132cm

inseam 96cm ((diagonally)

 leg opening 23cm

thigh 34cm at crotch seam

knee at 50cm from hem is 26cm

pocket bag from lower seam to bottom is 27cm

just put mine in a 60 degree machine wash to shrink. Probably won't see any detail of the patch again...

@CSL that’s the best fit shot yet.
I was hoping that is how the cut would be on us all but they look quite trim in some other shots.
we will see. Like @Duke Mantee I don’t want to jump to the group mentality. I will decide on my own once they arrive.

If anyone has a pair of raw that measure 35-35.5" waist, I would be up for trading a pair of Mister Freedom Lot 54 buckleback that are 35" after 2 hot soaks. Then I have a "spare" for fat days.
