The laurel wreath buttons get me every time

Me too, they're the nicest buttons in the denim-shpere! what you don't see as often on the 37's is the standard Toyo&CoSPL buttons but they did make them, why anyone would choose these over the laurels i don't know but i would like to pick over the finer deets of a pair just to see if there are any minor differences between the two types of M41030's

Ultra low-effort update on the M41058 to keep the thread going…

The lap creases on these are shaped weird as hell, different from any of my other jeans—not sure what the story is there but I'm kinda into it

Kinda reminiscent of the '5yr pre-distressed' style of lap creasing/fading which SC went for years ago... but a legit version.

Anyone know a little more about a colab with rage blue? Found a pair on the bay and am really interested.

I posted about the RageBlue M40140 years ago on DB, if it's still there? i don't have much more info on them but i might be able to find the old pics.

Yes! Same thoughts here. The seller (https://www.ebay.de/usr/ta_210854) has a bunch of other 90s and early 2000s canes going, aswell as 2 pairs of 1955s in what might be my size. It's a shame no measurements are listed. Better someone get them, before I decide to drop my vinyl-money on another pair of jeans, I won't wear for another 2 years, with the TCB contest coming up and the GBG contest running :D

I sold my entire vinyl collection to a friend of mine back in the early 2000's, it was mainly 1989 - mid 90's Warp labels, XL, white labels, test pressings ect mixed with 1940's era jazz and a bit of 70's era funk which i used to crate dig from the vintage shops for 20p each when i was too poor to buy CD's.
He kept complaining that i wasn't storing it properly causing it to warp... at the time i couldn't really care less because i'd sold my system and i only had a vintage dansette which was great for the jazz but not so great for the rest... so i said 'tell you what give me £50 as a token gesture for the lot on the understanding that i can buy it back at any time for £50' he still has it to this day.
Check out these 45 centers i hand turned for a Denimbro members SL1200's..

Geez those look amazing! I should do woodworking a lot more often. Did a mortar and pestle recently out of some applewood, want to do a spatula and some pizzapeels now, but didn't have the time/motivation yet...
Not looking into selling my collection yet, also not best market for it, I think, got almost everything by Blu & Exile and their crew, some 90s and 2000s rap classics here and there, but started to drift into Indie/Funk/Soul/Jazz more recently.
Still on the lookout for Beach Diggin' Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 by Guts for a fair price, but Pura Vida doesn't do represses it seems...

...anyway, enough of this vinyl and woodworking distraction, we should get back to M-Series Sugarcanes :)

I picked up these M41030 that were listed as tagged 35. Sadly they came in at a true 30" and too damn small for me. Bummed. But what a cool pair of jeans. The denim texture, color, and overall details are just something else.

Those aren’t the ones from Mercari, are they? The pair I’d been looking at seemed much less worn than that…

Either way, those look really great; it’s a shame the fit’s a dud

Yes they are! It's odd because when I searched M41030 these came up, tagged 35, so I thought we were talking the same. It wasn't until I searched more on Mercari that I saw the basically NOS ones and I realized those were probably the ones you were talking about. Already sold though! No biggy!

I don't recall seeing a pair of M41030's with pink line denim? the pair i'm wearing are 13oz white-line

P1020939

..same via a quick search

https://static.mercdn.net/item/detail/orig/photos/m92361501096_10.jpg?1593334044

Same on the later 'cloth patch' model

https://scontent.flhr2-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/935989_233352063490794_35469469_n.jpg?_nc_cat=110&_nc_sid=e007fa&_nc_ohc=D-013oBB09AAX87Yikj&_nc_ht=scontent.flhr2-2.fna&oh=bdf8f6ad0f0be3c378a93751fa66a646&oe=5F45BF9A

What does the weight feel like? does if feel the same as the pink-line SC-47's or a lighter weight denim? you would know for sure.

..also button placement seems odd, the top button looks too close to the waistband, usually SC are meticulous with this kind of detail, yet the rivet/fly looks perfect, as does the buckle/cinch assembly, the overstitch/opposing bartack on the back pockets, arcs, thread colour, v-stitch, coin pocket shape ect??

..also odd that they're tagged 35 but measure 30" the M41030 usually shrink from tagged, although judging by the state of the selvedge and the overlapping rivet on the fly they've probably been boiled to within an inch of their life :(

Can we see some more deets, what's the coin pocket ID? back of rivets? are the button shanks copper or silver? double or single faced tab? and anything left of the nylon 'M41030' pocket label?

I love this thread!

The weight is definitely lighter than my early 2010s '47s.

Also I had this shower realization this morning, 30" waist is 15" across which is 35cm so it must have been a bad translation that didn't relay the message that W35 meant 35 cm flat.

The waistband tag is obliterated. The coin pocket is pink selvage. The coin pocket tag is totally washed out but I will take a closer look to see if I can discern anything.

If I remember correctly, the hidden rivets had "S C & T Co." with a 25 stamped in the center. All other rivets were the same less the 25. The buttons had an S stamped on the back. I will take a closer look at the button shank but they were rusted so leaning toward steel. Tab was double sided also if I remember.

I will pour over these with a camera tonight and post more pics.

@Double 0 Soul PICK DUMP

First, this lighting was more true to color. Wanted to capture that. Such a gorgeous fade.

Patch stitching not like I see on others. From what I've seen its usually one continuous stitch in a rectangle. This is two separate paths.

Tab is double-sided! but upside down on the other side. no idea if normal. seems odd. R0002383.thumb.JPG.d5a26a573da1b41b1e511a795c0e807e.JPG

Def an interesting pair of M41030's you have there @Graytrain

Pink line denim??

Button placement?

Patch stitch (as you say)

The double sided Cane's tab is spot on

As is the buckle

The yoke stitch is often copper coloured rather than yellow

Ive owned lots of pairs of M41001/M41030 most of which i bought in vintage condition, non of which have had a '25' on the hidden rivet?

The 'M41030' nylon tag is usually on the opposite pocket to the coin pocket, but what's also odd...it looks like the bottom V of the coin pocket doesn't overlap the pocket bag?

fullsizeoutput_27c4

'S' button back's are spot on, as are all those stitch colours around the fly

Those 'steel shank' buttons would have once been copper (what looks like rust, i think is the remnants of the plating) they're only copper plate over steel, it doesn't usually rub away to that extent..

fullsizeoutput_27c3

..ive beat the shit out of this^ pair but a quick rub with some sandpaper will reveal the Sugarcane copper shank buttons are steel underneath the plate.

I wonder if they were a sample...

Like a bastard (laurel) M41001/M41030 love child, the laurel M41001's have the same coin pocket assembley with the white stitch underneath?

fullsizeoutput_27c6

...also the laurel leaf buttons of the M41001 are steel shanked, apart from the top button, ive had a couple of pairs of these with the same button set up

Yep, to my surprise I was the only bid on both pairs

Had my max. set to ¥19.8k for each and would've been happy to score them for that, but hey, I've got no complaints

Looks like you were the illustrious bid no. 3 on yours, them? Glad you ended up going for them

Would really like to know more about whoever it was that was getting rid of all these…
