Got down to Tainan, a city in southern Taiwan (and former capital) for a day. The little lady went to a seminar so I dropped her off there and went to visit one of my stockists and enjoy the older, more historical city:

The Hayashi Department store, built in 1932 during the Japanese colonial period. The first department store in the country, with the country's first elevator. It was recently renovated and now houses a cafe, restaurant, and concession stands from local brands and artisans:

The cafe. The whole interior is this wonderful mix of Art Deco and traditional Japanese architecture.

The Hayashi elevator:

Bullet holes and other damage; during WWII, the Japanese placed anti-aircraft guns on the roof. Allied (American and Chinese) planes carried out air raids on Japanese supply routes and factories in Taiwan as part of the Pacific Theater campaign.

Didn't have time to explore this old street this time, next time:

Mr.old, the main denimhead/American casual shop in Tainan.

The Confucius Temple, built in 1665, one of the oldest standing structures in the country:

@BrownMetallicThat's the place! I didn't have time to stop inside this time as I was searching for the store Mr. Old. Was only in town for a day, which is definitely not enough for a place like Tainan where you just want to sit back and take in the nicer little niches, cafes, and old buildings.

I swear there's actually some fading going on! What's more interesting is that my wife decided that this amazing leather jacket (IH One Star) was actually a reasonable buy. :)

Looks like the first wash is coming sooner than expected.

I saw you just changed your jeans for the contest, which makes this like the 5th wear or something? Damn... you’re going to have no indigo left by the end of the competition. :P

I’ll be curious to see that jacket when worn in awhile...

I'm stoked that I got it around the same time as my contest jeans, so I can compare the Sage denim and the Cone denim evo. I'm taking both on a natural tour this spring (naturally) and that's really going to put some wear on them.

I’m guessing working as a preschool teacher and having a 2,5 year old at home (+ another one on the way) will make at least my knee fade hard to beat.

Also, the TCB60’s are hairy!
