@louisbosco that photobucket link just goes to a user account so it looks more like a hacker on photobucket has hijacked their links??

...just checked further - and the link code on sufu still goes to your photobucket image...so something smells a bit fishy.

Hi everyone!!

a few days late reporting on these — in the middle of writing my thesis this month lol. But i will try my darndest to have some fun for the sake of our co-entertainment!

before that, though, some dry pics:

here’s what I wore this morning! The weather, as you might assume, is cold, wet, rainy, formerly snowy, cloudy, dark, and shit. but the school I go to recently purchased sun lamps so things are hunky dory as can be!

these have been my two friends over the past couple days! currently writing the introduction to my thesis, which consists of redefining the word “queer” outside of the essentialist-antiessentialist debate — which is to say outside of most current conceptions of identity (politics). in short, i don’t believe that a group can be accurately labeled by an identity (ie. i wouldn’t expect a member of this forum to speak on behalf of, or represent, everyone on the forum—same goes for race, gender, etc) and yet simultaneously acknowledge the utility of grouping people (forum members) and addressing and describing them as a group. so it’s a bit of a difficult line to walk as far as finding the middle ground. But it’s coming!

in other news, I helped convert my partner’s jeans from (broken) zipper to button fly:

and gave my roommate a tattoo:

and went to a cool talk on variant indigo synthesis!! I’ll link some papers if anyone is interested — not necessarily tied to indigo as a fabric but still very interesting.

ok gotta go back to writing for the night but will update with cool things soon!!

Hi again! Lots of exciting stuff in the past few days; tragically little that was photographed (although I shot an entire roll of film lol).

on Wednesday I went back to Seattle for a night, saw a friend I had met a couple weeks before. We went to a bad karaoke bar and talked about ghosts (she had just finished reading “Pedro Páramo”, i had finished Ralph Ellison’s “Invisible Man” while waiting at the border) and puzzled over how to recommend things to people (why is it taboo to talk about a podcast but not a film?).

The next morning I finished sewing a patch:2EEE3406-CB87-4624-BAD8-115D919531E4.thumb.jpeg.0613d195ff3c507ccabc2a2b0b78b415.jpeg

that i gave to my friend Emily, who gave me this tattoo:

less painful than i imagined but still a crazy feeling, especially between the thumb and index finger and on the knuckles.

I left pretty much immediately afterwards to get back to Vancouver. though on the way I also pondered this screamin’ dealB4A00B83-80B5-47B1-99D9-0CAAD442BB24.thumb.jpeg.f0ff16e2db510965f5ecb14264f40490.jpeg

and had a nice time looking at this sunset

anyway the purpose of the whole trip back up to van was to go to the launch party for my friend nina’s tattoo magazine scratch:

it was a fun party full of antisocial artists lol. i also have the link to the online version of the magazine if anyone is interested!

and this morning back in Squamish there was a lovely rainbow:

and also loads of birds!

a final quick fit pic since it’s been a minute that these jeans have been online. featuring a cool painting that my roommate brought me from Morocco!

good luck with the thesis and tattoo developments

in solidarity; reading these recently...

quite enjoying the intensity of tim dean's research [see also leo bersani for other focault-lacan oscillations] quite a thorough freudian-lacanian... and the katz text comes from a fashion institute of technology show called queer history of fashion; not really queer per se, but ok

better, if ever doing fashion related: geczy & karaminas, queer style is good, finding them citing eve kosofsky sedgwick: queer is “continuing movement, motive – recurrent, eddying, troublant. The word ‘queer’ itself means across… keenly, it is relational and strange” - from her tendencies  [also they do a good chapter on the origin of johann winckelmann and the homoerotic origins of the relatively contemporary notion of the classical]

if looking at art side of things; this recent collection exists: https://mitpress.mit.edu/books/queer

paul b preciado's testo junkie is also a text that has really done the recent rounds... not read it, but it has been highly recommended...
