@Iron Horse drakes has 2 colours on sale:

Dehens version has a tighter, non ribbed, knit style and looks like it comes both with and without patch pockets. Can’t find any that’s on sale though if that makes a difference.

Peregrine knitwear do a nice chunky one, reasonably priced.

I have an RMC one which is cut quite long with pockets which I love. Great with a Bretton or button down underneath. Here I am on Christmas Day.

@Spiraltoy Thanks for that, the Drake’s version isn’t bad, the shaker-style knit is suitably chunky. The Dehen one is nice but not thick enough.

I think both are missing the loop-button on the collar and in most the shawl collar is too thin. Sleeves cuffs should also be a bit long for cuffing back.

Seems like few/no makers get all the details right in shawl collar shaker knit sweaters; Phigvel has made some nice ones but sometimes with striped rubbing and done in China.

Here are some ‘20s and ‘30s vintage examples:

I could probably have them made in Japan but likely pricey.

Also in black and navy. I have it. It's a nice piece of kit. I know find that I like patch pockets better than slit pocket on something like this.

Not bad but too thin.  I might just keep my eyes peeled for vintage.  Thanks for the refs though guys!

From what i can remember.. FW's struggled to get those cardi-coats made for years, even with the swankyest knitting machines they still only managed 50 or so pieces hence the price (i'm sure you can find the blurb online)

I haven't handled the FW's or the Drakes so if you've done the Pepsi-cardi-challenge i'll bow to your greater knowledge but regarding knitwear i find you're better off basing opinions on weight/gauge rather the 'chunkyness' ..as mentioned above chunky can often mean loose, sometimes even see-through depending on the style of knit.

I've just been reading that as from today (1st Jan 2020) Nike stockists will no longer be able to ship outside their trade territories if they want to continue stocking Nike product a'la RMC. "Shipping to consumers internationally is in violation of Nike Terms & Conditions of Sale" ...that's Nike, the international sportswear brand...wtf!

Fueling the gray/re-seller market or what!?

FYI.. this policy has been in place for nearly every luxury brand in the world since the late 90's.  With the way streetwear and luxury/couture have intersected over each other this past year Nike can now be considering a (new) luxury brand, so this sales policy isn't much of a surprise.

Thanks for the refs guys, but looking more something more period-correct. :) I’ll keep an eye out for vintage or maybe a used Phigvel.

Like that? https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/t683927876 It mostly looks longer than the modern iterations.

Keep us posted. I like them myself; I have 2...

Yes that one is very well done, just seems like they’re made in China.

Not many brands really pulling it off. There’s a new one from Birdwell Beach Britches that’s not bad but I don’t like the color or stripes (prefer plain black or a dark burgundy):
