@jkbrwn hahaha right? The stitching is quite wonky in some spots, especially the end of the sleeves. I have to really wonder just how ‘unskilled’ the workers really were and how much of it is leaning into the imagined charm of the aesthetic.

@Cold Summer thanks! Just grabbed the BR chinos to be able to wear with my jackets and not always rock the Canadian tux and love them so far. Hope you enjoy the jeans, post some pics!

@Thicolas Rage I have the Buzz chinos too (the 1930s version, in the lighter Khaki color.) Best chinos I've ever worn, fit, fabric, everything is perfect. And an incredible value for the low price!

I got my new jeans yesterday and wore them all day today, they're awesome! Easily the coolest, quirkiest jeans I've owned. It's got more of a boxy anti-fit than my Flat Head 3003s, which are certainly a more refined take on a WWII fit, but I really like it after spending a day in it. I'll probably wear them a few more times before getting around taking fit pics. The denim is also very nice as well, I think I'll love this 13.5 oz for warmer weather especially, much like the Warehouse Banner denim I wore in summer the last few years.

@Cold Summer great fit! I think it was mentioned elsewhere as well that the lower rise compared to the s40s really makes them a very versatile pair while maintaining the quirkiness TCB is known for. Looks like you nailed the sizing and the inseam too. Glad you’re enjoying the denim, it’s got just the right amount of character for me and it has a unique hue to it - it’s dark like my 30s but has a bit more of a reddish/purple tinge to it. Excited to see how it fades!

and hard agree that the BR chinos are simple but just fantastic to wear :)

Late 40s jacket arrived in today. Super crispy still and in need of breaking in but very happy with the shorter fit compared to my 20s and all the ww2 detailing! The denim has a bit of a redder hue and is simple but hairy. Wrestled with getting the cinch back to buckle properly a bit but looking forward to wearing this practically daily going forward.

I also purchased the same one when I was in Japan last month - It's been a long time since I bought a denim jacket last time.

For many years I have been eyeing the ”new” version of the TCB Type 2 jacket. I got the old version in a smaller size but found it too slim for my liking. This time I sized up to a 46 so I can layer it with a thicker shirt or a sweater. I’m really happy with the fit. Much better proportions from the old one.

sorry for the bad picture 😕

@SLAYER how are those bleached TCB 50's doing?

I'm considering doing something similar to one of my pairs and I just wanted to check on lessons you'd learnt, what to watch out for, if anything has ultimately fallen apart or whatever?

I see on your images the paper patch seemed pretty unphased - I would probably imagine a leather patch takes more of a hit in a bleach soaking right?!

how rough is the 50s denim? looking for something that fades/marbles similar to WH and i really like the cut of the 50s

Not particularly rough, but there is texture. I'd say it's pretty comparable to Full Count's 13.7oz denim.

The denim on my 50s is softer than the coarser feel of my banner denim pair. Maybe the 30s would be closer since banner denim is based of a 30s fabric?

50s denim is Zimbabwe so it's not surprising that it would feel similar to Full Count's 13.7. From the fades I've seen, the 50s denim does seem to have a more marbled/textured character when faded which could be more akin to the Banner denim.

The newly-developed denim on my TCB Late S40s jeans reminds me a lot of WH Banner denim, so that could be another good option for you.

Not positive what would qualify as a 'rough' denim. Texture to the hand? Firmness? I would describe the 50s denim as light, pliant and irregular / uneven. Late 40s denim is opposite: stiff and regular / even. I would also characterize the 50s denim as 'lively' and the late 40s denim as 'flat'. What is the professional terminology that fabric people use and what do they actually measure?
