I think 33.

The 50s are wider in the leg all the way down than the 40s so for a similar leg you'd probably have to go down to 32, but that would likely be pushing it in the waist.

I have 40s in 34 and 50s in 33 and both fit fine. These days I could probably go down an inch in both but I wouldn't do more than 1" difference between

Thanks! Great input.

Mind sharing fit pics of both pairs? If you have them…

50s are out for repair right now but I'll do it when I get them back this week.

Recently got a type 1 from tcb, and have a small question. There seems to be some fabric under the inner pleat on the button side that kind of doesn't let the pleat stay flat at times. I personally can't tell if it's a crease or a part of the deaign.i'm not sure if this is exclusively related to tcb or any pleated denim jacket as this is my only one. Thanks!

Thanks!

Are the measurements on TCB’s site accurate for waists? Are the size 33s really only 39cm laid flat??

Sorry if this has been debated to death earlier in the thread…

Putting the 40s on straight after the 50s does remind me how slim the 50s are in the hips compared to the 40s. So you definitely wouldn't want to have the 50s in more than an inch smaller than the 40s.

Those are some pretty great fits, thanks for the trouble MT!

Interesting how they are at almost the exact same stage of fading - could have fooled me into believing they were the same pair! Apart from the telltale sign of the huge rise of the 40s of course.

For my first post on this forum here are my TCB 40's :

- 7 month of dailywear

- a lot of washes (more than 20) + dryer

PS: I burnt the leather patch in the dryer :(

Sweet pair! Contrast seem pretty high for such many washes, the marbling remind me a little of the kind of fades you see on Orslows.

I agree there is a bit less contrast in real, maybe because the light or my phone camera.

There’s something specific about the 40s patch that wears very easily. It’s the only pair that I’ve had that lost the patch and I didn’t treat it any different to any of the other pairs I have.

I went wrong with the size and bought a W40 (I am usually 36 - 38) and I must admit I used a lot of warm dryer to shrink it.

Yea, I picked them up about 2 months ago. I haven’t owned any previous versions but they’re on the shallower side for sure - but not to any strange extent - and not in any way that makes me regret the purchase. They feel like a great value imo.

thank you!  yes!  I will definitely post it, so please wait for a while.  I don't want to wash clothes that I've worn for 3 years for about 40 minutes in one wash, so I want to wash like crazy for about 6 hours.

Is there any residual inseam shrinkage on a one-wash pair of 50's?  I'm about to order a pair and considering having the shop do the hem and am wondering if I need to ask for any extra length.

Thanks!

@fresh1 Can’t speak for the 50s, but in both my 40s and 505s I’ve had maybe one extra inch of shrinkage. Usually wash at 40 C but I’ve washed them at 60 C and even thrown them into the dryer once or twice.

I’ve never worn any 20’s style jeans. Are they as impractical as they look?
