worked at ruehl for 3 or so months--- the amount of employee thievery was impressive

i would be lying if i said it was awful--- most of the people were cool and outside of fri/sat--- no one ever came in--- oftentimes would wear the new shipments and go on a smoke break with a couple of other 'models'--- good times.

Such an amazing quality that goes unnoticed in our society... And what the Hell were you shipping that was so light??? I used to swear that there were car parts or bricks in every damn package.

I mean we had some heavy shit too, but I figured it was a good workout. The job was like advanced Tetris. It got really difficult when we got these Medical supply boxes everday. They were variably sized boxes strapped together. I would be beast at lifesize tetris if ever I came across that.

i had the reverse of that ups job. i would unload trucks at circuit city. had to come in at 4 am and unload the truck and get it on the floor before it opened. i spent at lot of that time in the break room on sufu or drinking stolen soda.

After college (fine arts degree) I couldn't find a job for months so I ended up getting a gig at a factory in my hometown that made all sorts of shit for the auto industry. Eventually I got moved to a team making turrets for military vehicles from 5PM to 5AM four days a week and constantly felt like shit that what I was building was helping kill people. Even though I have working class roots me going to art school didn't sit well with a handful of co-workers who considered me a "pussy ass faggot" which made it worse. After almost a year there I put in my two weeks notice, bought a ticket to Italy with my savings and enrolled in a masters program.

Working in an ice cream factory from 10 at night til 10 in the morning and since it was during the summer we only got one day off a month. I waded through 5,000 gallon tanks of rotten milk because the shift before forgot to turn the refrigeration unit for the tank on, and the place was like 100 degrees unless you were lucky enough to work in the actual fridge stacking the finished product. Basically think about all of the rotten milk smells you can and then add every flavor of ice cream to that rotten milk smell. Worst stinkiest grossest job ever.

I work in digital animation, my first job seems to be great because was in an important company, but end up being a complete nightmare, underpaid, lots of extra hours, never had the chance to draw a line in the computer, just answer the phone, serve coffes, print stuff and shit like that...luckily, and after a lot of years, found a great job doing what i like

walking door to door everyday putting up door hangers for the pizza shop i worked at, it sucked seeing the "no solicitors" sign when I walked up to a house because it was one less door hanger to get rid of. after finishing 5000 i dont think no more than 100 from the area called within 2 weeks. and we offered free delivery too

worked service in a pool hall.. bringing food/drinks to/from tables, wiping down tables, racking balls and stuff.

boss paid less than minimum wage.. which is legal since it's a service position.. and took all the tips. paid us back enough of the tips to get us to minimum wage.

would call us in for 1-2 hour shifts, send people home early if business was bad, etc, no breaks.

probably worst boss rather than worst job.

damn, some shitty jobs out there...

My worst was managing a payday loan store. Brutal hours because my 1 "associate" would quit every few months since it was such garbage, leaving me working open-close 65 hour weeks. That's not even mentioning having to do our own debt calls (3-5 calls daily on every account, which sometimes numbered upwards of 50-60), and having to deal with scum drug addicts. The worst part though was all the good people that were just in horrible situations and actually thought they could ride it out while they are sinking themselves with 521.43% annual interest. I was totally anti my company and would try to convince everyone the best way to get away from payday loans and was still the top performing manager in my district. Went out back and smoked a bowl probably every 3-4 hours and was got my first 500 posts on sufu along with hundreds of hours reading every single denim thread from the beginning. I was finally fired w/o cause and won my unemployment. Getting fired was one of the better days of my life!

worked there 15 months or so. moved up to max salary 32k +1200bonus/quarter within 5-6 months of starting and loved the benefits and 2+ weeks off a year. still, wasn't worth it even if I still can't find a decent job to save my life, that shit made me a miserable person. some of the darkest times of my life during the last 6-7 months there; drugs, depressions, breakups.

Moral of the story, it's better to be poor and happy than working a miserable job and hating your life.

Although not the best , my co workers made the best of these...

Never hated it but garbageman in amsterdam and cleaning bakery and fruitcrates for a large supermarketchain weren't the most glam jobs to do..

Paid my bills through college thoughand I learned more there than in college

what's to stop you from dumping like, a hundred flyers in the trash? always wondered that..

I worked for an ice cream parlour when I was 13, you'd think it would be the best job ever, but I had to get stacks of boxes of ice cream from this fucking huge freezer room that was like -5 inside, closing yourself inside it with a huge sliding door, for like half an hour at a time, alone, half expecting the door to jam when you tried to get out. All for £4.00 an hour. That sucked.

then, after a year of working there, they fired me without ceremony to replace me with some moldovians that they paid below minimum wage, and who promptly went on the run when their visas ran out, and were never seen again.

yeah. great job.

I worked for a flyer company a few years back- definitely bad news bears in AZ during the summer. But in all honesty, I've dumped several hundred during my run- though we constantly had my boss and clients driving around checking if flyers were hanging in the doorcracks. So you could certainly get away with it on days you knew he wasn't going to babysit you.

Definitely was not worth the hot days, early hours, and papercuts though.

The only thing I'd pull from it- I know my away around town now, and wish I lived in a better home. Actually, I don't know if it helped at all. But that's done.

Though right now I hate my job, working a simple retail cashier position at world home store. Somehow it turned from simple transactions into meeting sales quotas of signing individuals up for our "rewards program." On one ticket, it's super free and easy, you just need a phone no. and an e-mail for us to send coupons- acts like a Fry's VIP card. But on the other hand I can't live getting chewed out constantly because I didn't make my 35% sign up rate for the day. Especially if they don't even own a computer to finish registration (or speak english). There's also no reward for it. I'm not really a sales kind of guy.

But hey, it's a job right?

Looks like it's time for me to move on.

Worked in a call center for 2 months, the managers were instructed to hurl vulgarities at the top of their voices so that we would not slow down in our calling. We were asking people to sign up for credit cards... so yeah.... you tried to persuade a stranger over the phone with a constant stream of vulgarities playing in the background. Good Stuff.

The managers do also get verbally abused by the directors every morning so its more of like a culture over there in passing down the language.

When I was high school, I spent a couple summers unloading watermelons off semi-trucks. It was all under the table, so you could go whenever you want, but you had to work midnight to 7:00. The smell of that truck was awful, and there's nothing like picking up rotten watermelons. The people I worked with were usually a mix of illegal immigrants and people out on parole... good times.

I worked one summer as a custodian, actually wasn't too bad of a job. However one new guy showed up for his first day, but after the 1st break nobody could find him. Later on they found his coveralls in one of the rest rooms. The guy didn't tell anybody, he just up and quit.

got talked into quitting a pretty solid spot at a cafe when I was younger to go work at a restaurant in a swanky golf club. It sounded amazing (promised a server spot, av ticket was $200+) until a week in they shuffled everyone around and I wound up banquet serving for weddings most of the time. It was the only job I truly felt was beneath me and abhorred going to. Quit a month later. Best drive home of my life.

bagging groceries. shit sucks hard. my supervisors were friendly for the most part but i think that was just their approach to making sure i worked like a fucking mule. constant bagging on your feet for 8 hour shifts with only a 30 minute break that is more like a teaser because you know you're gonna have to go back out there and bag more shit. also i had to go out into the parking lot that had been baking in the sun in 95 degree weather for hour shifts multiple times a day.

the one decent part of it was the pay which was on average was about $9/hour (minimum wage + a few tips) for an entry level job...but still not really worth it.
