little bit of a personal life update this time for you guys.

After years and years thinking about it last week I've recorded my first solo album. Very excited about it! This project has been languishing in the back of my mind for 4/5 years and finally I found the energy, will and the right people to help me puke it out.

I had a little budget but didn't want to save on the studio (it's never ever a good idea) so we tried the mission impossible of recording a whole album in very short time and we succeeded. 24 hours of studio, 4 afternoons we did everything, thank God! now I only have to add one extra track with another visiting musician and then send out recordings to studios in USA and Ireland to have some guests adding their magic to the music.

here's yours truly and my band for this project, on the left my all life best friend Fabio who played piano and percussions (he's mainly a singer and violin player but can play everything, one of those lucky guys) and on the right all the way from Glasgow my friend Mike (who played guitars), aka as the Mad Dog, or Mad Mike, sporting his favourite Beyoncè megapussy's tshirt.

Fabio loves TCB's crotch as you can see!

haha I hardly doubt a vinyl will be made. I still don't know if the cd will be produced or I will go for self production. either way it won't happen, if I had to pay prints I won't make them, if it gets on a label it will be the only folk music label still active in Italy, and they don't make vinyls unfortunately.

Sorry I've not posted recently, had sudden flurry of activity, and at one point was two-timing my TCB with the Levi's, had a quick family trip to Paris, and had a bunch of promotion with my US paperback. BUT... finally got a bit of sunshine again and managed another wash.

 

It's getting too dark now for a full-length pic, and I'm away much of the weekend, so I thought these might fill the gap for the time being. Plus a bonus shot of John Grant, who the nipper and I went to see last night. Great show - and good cuffs, John! (Might not quite be visible but those were minimum 5 inch turnups on a wide, almost 30s style leg).

sound check in Plauen Germany where there's one of the most famous folk clubs in this country, great venue where everybody in the scene of the last 40 yrs has played, pretty amazing.

lame mirror selfie, TCB are looking great I am more in love than ever with this denim and cut, and from now on its only going to look better and better. I am in the stage where I like the denim so much that I don't even think about wearing other jeans. Foreman duck vest it's fantastic too, and gets better with wear.

Yay! Great Lennons! Are they the Hill Walker version?

 

I would wear mine more often, but I have stomped on the nipper's toes too often in them... and now there's the dog to maim, too!

yes they're the oxford version of the hill shoe.

 

haha I feel I could kill my cat should I stomp on her while wearing these. they're massive, it'll take 3 or 4 months to properly break them in, but it's worth it. Love the look and the amazing craftmanship. the standard waxy leather they use is great too.

It's also very funny to get accustomed at keeping balance while wearing these. Had a good laugh in the last few days while trying to:

- walking up and down the stairs;

- taking pictures of my daughter while crouching on the toes;

- move my right foot from accellerator to brake (they're so damn wide! should change from my volvo 244 to a john deere tractor);

- pissing in a pub's urinal while being half drunk!

 

but today is day 3 and I feel I am starting to get used!

For folks on this thread who haven't seen it, here's my story on the Lennon factory.

your blog was the place where I read first about Lennon. they make great shoes.

I wanted an oxford shoe based on the army last but they don't make it, so went balls deep into their more "no compromise, love or hate it" design, and I must say I love it!

I might want to get a pair of their derby boots in the future, depending on how I will like these oxfords after an year or two of wear. Can't honestly believe their shoes retails at about the same price as Red Wing. they're exceptional value for the money.

So the waxy leather they use is Horween?

Yes; I'm sure I've read that Trickers use Horween too, but the Lennon really looks better quality to me. Of course it might simply be that they flex less, and hence crease less, because of those insane soles!

yeah might just be that. Dunno if you're on Instagram but I saw there are some amazing photos of well worn pairs of William Lennon oxfords like mine. I'm quite sure they will look incredible after they'lle be properly broken in, in 5 or 6 years hahaha!
